I have faced a issue with BEO remotes.
I have been controlling Beovision 10, Beosound 3200, LC1 & LC2 with BEO4 remote years without problems.
This week I brought home used BEO5 remote (which was programmed to another enviroment, NOT configurated for my B&O configuration). I could not resist the temptation to test BEO5 on before attempting to configure it to my system.
well it did not suceed to controll anything else than power on/off TV and DVD input on my beovision 10. So I left it to wait for programming, and continued using BEO4 remote as usual.
Yesterday, when I got home from work, BEO4 could not operate Beovision 10 or Beosound 3200 (didn’t tried LC2). Everything was working at previous night when I used them last time. I changed a new batteries to BEO4 but that didn’t help. equiplents were not responding to BEO5 either.
Beosound is working from frontpanel. Beovision 10 does not have hard buttons, so it cannot be tested. So issue must be with IR connection. but what the heck happened?
Can BEO5 dominate the B&O system and mess up everything?
I will test LC2 tonight when I get home. I also have A9 keyring, need to test if anything responses to that.
Please give comments how I should proceed on this issue.

It may be an option setting that you have mistakenly set to OPTION 0 with the Beo5 - hence the devices won't now respond to any IR remote. You need to set OPTION 1 or 2. To do this you will need to use the Beo4 and do the following: Hold the STBY (Power Off) button while pressing LIST. When the Beo4 display reads OPTION?, press GO. – Press LIST to display A.OPT (for the BS3200) and then key in 1 or 2. Repeat for the BV10 but this time you want V.OPT and then 1 or 2.
If the BV and BS are connected, you can get away with leaving the BS in OPTION 0 and setting the BV to OPTION 2.

This was the solution indeed. Still I don't know what caused the changes on system. Maybe it's caused by BEO5 programming, or my superactive children? I needed set the V-OPTION and A-OPTION 2 times during the weekend.

Another Beo4 not working.
I have a 9000 cd changer and the Beo4 wont operate anything at all on the unit. I changed the batteries and then using my mobile phone camera and looking at the IR emitter, I was able to see all three IR lights operating with every button on the remote.
I've searched everywhere I can think of to try and see if the Beo4 may have lost sync to the 9000 or even where the IR receiver is located on the 9000 but haven't found anything at all relating to this issue.
Any clues?
Have you tried changing the A.Opt setting on the BS9000 as I posted above? Try this first and report back, as there is one other possibility for the lack of control.
I just remembered that the BS9000 also needs to have something connected to the power link socket in order to be changed from A.Opt 0. You should connect either powerlink speakers or a special dummy plug.

It should be possible to change the BS9000 to A.OPT 1 or 2 without the dummy plug or speakers connected, at least to confirm this is the issue, but it will reset back to A.OPT 0 the next time it is powered off (I can't remember if this happens when the 9000 is switched to standby, or only when power is disconnected and reconnected though).
So as a follow up and closure to this thread regarding a non operational remote for the Beosound 9000. Last week I pulled the unit apart to take a look and see if I could manage to get to the PCB14 IR receiver board which is located in the bottom of the machine, basically under Disc 6.I managed to extract the board and very carefully removed the three capacitors from the board that I deduced were likely to be the problem culprits.One is a standard aluminium capacitor but the other two are tiny little surface mount caps about 4 x 3mm in size.Once removed I got the numbers from them and was able to order suitable caps from Sydney which arrived in the mail this afternoon after about 6 days.So with arms, fingers and legs crossed for luck, I had a go at them and managed to solder the surface mounts successfully to the board and then fit the alloy cap without any issues. A bit of mucking around to get it all back together and line up the sledge and CD drive unit, but pleased to say that it all works perfectly and the remote is now fully operational.Thanks for the guidance and assistance, particularly to Guy.
