I am new here and have owned my Beogram 1602 since new. It has the MMC 10E cartridge and I want to dust it off and get it tuned up. The 33 RPM selector started causing the turntable to run fast but I used to be able to get it to run normal by stopping it and waiting for it to stop rotating and then pressing 33 again. Now it always runs fast, whether using the Turn function or 33. It runs at 45 RPM when 45 is selected, and the pot to adjust it works fine. I checked the pot for the 33 speed and it works ok, and the resistor in series is good but the slowest I can get it to run is about 60 RPM. I was thinking it might be the IC P/N 1003C2 and have been trying to find one to replace it but haven't had any luck. I re-soldered the connections for the IC, the transistor and all the diodes but nothing changed. This is supposed to be a speed control IC so it seems like it could be the culprit. Any advice?

Welcome to the forum, Probably you will need a new belt, If the belt is too lose the platter spins too slow at start up, the electronic tries to compensate and end up running double as fast as normal.

Thanks, that might be worth a try. It could also explain why it deteriorated over time as far as the double speed problem. Any ideas how to get a part number and where to find a belt? Thanks again.

Martin (Dillen) onthis forum should be able to help you with the right belt, I have bought several belts from him, and all of them were good, The Ebay belts sometimes fit and sometimes not.
