I have my Beomaster/Beosound 5 and an Ouverture via Masterlink connected  to the NL/ML converter hooked up to a BV11. BS5 is Audio Master. All commands (N.Music, N.Radio, A.Mem for Spotify) work fine with the BS5. CD switches on the CD on the Ouverture. Only RADIO does not work as I think it should. The Ouverture is switched on, but on the BV11 it displays "Stopped". If I press RADIO again, the message "Connection will be established" and nothing happens. Taking the NL/ML converter for some minutes from mains, the issue is solved, but only once! Next time RADIO and the problem returns. I tried all possible alternate configurations, played with the mapping of the NL/ML converter by logging in to that device. Unfortunately I have not manual of how to set up all the parameters of the converter. Looks like an NL/ML issue or a problem with the command RADIO as this is also used in the BV11.

Any assistance is very much appreciated, as the local B&O technicians are puzzled too!

Regards, Reinhard

Log in to the converter and define what radio is to do.

You can usually isolate that problem in the software and then unplug for 5 minutes after that.

Thanks for the hint! I just checked the RADIO definition in the converter. Left the converter for nearly 10 minutes off the mains.

Selection RADIO on the Beo4 switches on the radio in the Ouverture as it should, but after changing to BV11 TV and selecting RADIO again, it fails as I described in my first post. After putting the converter back to mains, it works exactly once!! Very strange!

Latest SW 1.3.0.0 is in the converter. Same for the BV11, the latest update from beginning June is in.

That strange.

I have had a few similar situations.

I've removed the 11 from the converter NL management section and rebooted then it will come back.

Good luck.

I removed the BV11 from the management section, had all equipment for half an hour off the mains.

No change! I have sent an error report to B&O via the converter interface. I hope, they look into it

and find a solution or a workaround.

Nice weekend!

Hi

I am writing from Denmark. BS5 must be slave, Meaning that BS 5 must be set to Audiomaster NO, as there will be a conflict between the IR radio command between BS5 and BSO. Please observe that BS% has NetLink and MasterLink, and when connected to BV 11, the NetLink is activated. Further Radio in Sourcelist on BV 11 must be ticked off.

Hello,

you are right, there is a conflict between the two Audio Systems. RADIO is being used by the BS5 and the BSO. The definition of the BS5 as slave is a workaround only, as  I cannot control the BS5 via Beo4 in this case. Perhaps there is a way to discontinue the RADIO IR from the BS5?

I am puzzeld of how to activate NL for the BS5? For my knowledge the BS5 is not a NL product ans is also not visible in the BV11 as such. The Beomaster5 appears in the HMEDIA as an ordinary network device, thats all.

I use a dedicated router for the B&O equipment. All components have a fixed IP Address interconnected with CAT7 cable.

I use a NETGEAR router but where is the difference to a Cisco or Linksys? I use all brands for my office customers, no difference in functionality where spces are equal.

The Ouverture works fine in my setup with the BS5. We mainly use it for CD and the good old audio tapes.

Hi Again

To activate the NL in BS5 is simple, if the BS5 is connected the Network and BS5 musicserver is set to ON (Active) then the NL is active. How to check: Go into source HomeMedia, if you see BeoMaster 5, you are connected, now you will get access to Music and Photo. WEB and N.Radio is done by BV 11, not using BS5.

On NL/ML Converter you will need to point N.Radio to Beovision 11. En you will have full operation with Beo 4 (You must use the Joystic version) and H:Media must be added to Beo 4. Then analog radio, CD, A.men is done by BSO, N.Music & Photo by BS5 and N.Radio and WEB is done by BV 11. Remember that BS5 must be set to Audiomaster OFF

Hi Fritz,

thanks a lot for the workaround. It works, however the BS5 is now without any function as I cannot control it by BEO4. Furthermore I copied all the music and photo data from the BM5 to my QNAP Nas and that way the BM5 is also obsolete. I really liked MOTS but also this is not active any longer when the BM5 works as an ordinary DLNA server. But perhaps B&O brings an update to the BM5/BS5 to make it fully compatible to NL without any converters etc. It was an expensive piece of equipment and this investment ought to be protected!

Hope dies last!

Have a nice sunday, Reinhard

Hi Again

Instead of a BSO I have as BS4, so i know the Issue "to well" BS5 is fully compatible with NL according to B&O when its is setup as a master, and also as non audio master. And this is correct. It is controlled via the Network and NOT by the ML This setup is fully BEO 4 compatible, believe that you have added MOTS to the Beo 4. The real issue is the NL/ML converter. It does not Work 100 % as a VideoMaster as we knew before the NL was introduced. It is fully controlled by BV 11. This is a software issue. B&O's has decided that the NL is the present & furture, and ML is obsolute  Meaning that it is the BSO that is obsolute not the BS5. The truth, forget your BSO, and my BS4, Use only BS5 and Your BV 11. Or as B&O says when you have a BV 11, you have to chose, either BS5 or a Masterlink product. Not Both !!!!. In this connection BS5 is NOT a ML product but a NL product. This is the B&O stratigy..

How to solve your issue:

Put your BS5 as Audiomaster ON with Musicserver ON, Audio option 0 (zero) BV 11 option 2. Believe that your loudspeakers are all connected to BV 11.

Connect BSO to BS5 by using a USB device named U-Control UCA 222 from Behringer. Connect this devise to an empty USB socket on your Beomaster 5. Your B&O Store has it. You will need 5 pin DIN to phono. Connect this to the Aux socket on BSO. The Din to Phono both should have input and output (4 phono plugs)

On BS5 when you would like to use BSO, Chose A.Aux on BS5,then operate the BSO, in some cases you can use the BEO4, If your BSO has software 2.1 (latest) put the BSO in option 4, and use the Link command. See  Your manuals how to do.

Brgds Fritz

Hi Fritz,

thanks a lot for your excellent explanations! That closes the gaps I had in understanding NL,ML  etc and I understand the limits of my setup.. For the time being I will keep the BS5 as slave and have the BM5 as dnla server type on NL. Shortly I will change all my cabling to CAT7 with RJ45 plugs, patachpanel etc.and after that is finished, I will test the BSO on the BS5 with the U-Control.

Thanks again and best regards, Reinhard

Hello,

I just bought the converter and want to log in in the setup menu. But the converter asks for a password and a user name? Can you tell me the log in data?
