I remember that this is somehow possible. I have my MacMini connected to my BV5 via DVI. How to use the Beo4 remote to control the Mini? Maybe someone can point me to what cable to buy and wat configurations to do.

Thanks in advance!

I think it was one or more pieces of software that included CandelAir combined with a PUC which of course translated the Beo4 IR signals (via the BV) into Apple friendly IR signals.  CandelAir (and the other software ?) then allowed the IR commands to trigger various menus.  Without CandelAir (and other?) software all you got was I think (from memory) the iTunes controls that you got in the little Apple remote.

Thanks for your quick reply. Any idea what cable required? Maybe even a link to this cable?

Not totally relevant , but I was surprised to find the Beo4 controlled the iPad when connected by cable to our Beolit12 . Probably totally obvious to many people there's a common language involved.

Beo Century ,Beoplay V1, Beocenter 6, Ex-Beolit 12, Beotime , A8. Beolit 15 , Form 2i , Beolab 2000, Beoplay A3.Beosound 1

Ok, I think I know now what cable is required (http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-tvir.htm).

I should have mentioned that I am running Windows on ym MacMini (for reasons not to be discussed in this thread). What software would allows me to map the buttons to control XBMC. I am sure there must be someone with experience in this around this forum?

I use remote buddy to control xbmc on my mac mini. Xbmc is running on osx. If you use windows you might use the microsoft 1039 puc and the corresponding IR receiver (mceusb) to control xbmc.

Slightly off-topic, what is the advantage of using remote buddy? I control Plex (which is a heavily customised version of XBMC) without the need of any third-party software.

Thanks! Any idea how to the get the microsoft 1039 puc installed or do you expect it may already be installed? How to activate it?

I had troubles with some hard wired activation of itunes upon ir commands. Remote buddy offers application profiles for a lot of applications, where you can assign program specific functions to ir commands.

If you have a BV11 or a V1 you can install your self. Otherwise only your dealer can install the puc

I have a BV5. How can I find out whether it has already been installed? Is there a menu to select it?

Thanks for your replies. I read from the link that a PUC for Apple Remote is available (Apple TV).

Has someone managed to set this up and can post step-by-step guidelines? How to connect cable? How to select the cable? Just work out of the box then?
