Check these out by Oppo of all companies. And they are their first attemptUnsure Gulp

Listening to Qobuz with my H6's thinking about these and Christmas!

These cans are playing in another league - best tell Santa to bring the headphone amp as well 🎅

MM

If B&O had brought out identical headphones at that price they would have been highly criticised for their pricing. Ugly, open backed, can they really be worth buying at that price point? Can the performance really be so exceptional?

I can't tell you.

Haven't heard them - but surely would want to!

Here are two reviews of the amp:

If that could be of any help.

I normally do not allow my shoes to use my H6's like DJ Khaled, as they play too much sole ...Confused

Excellent reading - one of the best threads recently on BeoWorld.

And Struer/Copenhagen likes it, too - it reflects the inhouse discussions :-)

B&O have been accused, mainly in Denmark perhaps, on loosing one or two generations of potential customers. B&O Play was, of course, an answer to this - but do people outside of BeoWorld see a that there are two "brands", B&O and B&O Play? I am not so sure.

Chris Townsend:
Can B&O remind me why I should keep bothering paying nearly 50% more for exactly the same thing in a store? The same goes for my A9.

I'm all for a good deal in second hand goods, but this is ridiculous. Just looking at my H6, Beolit 12and A9 purchased within the last 12 months, I could have saved £750 by not shopping at our local dealer. A dealer I'm happy to buy at with the full price may I just add. It just doesn't sit well with loyal customers.

Take care with that special offer on eBay. The seller updated his eBay offers yesterday, and in doing so inserted the full retail price despite the text still saying 45% off. Probably an error, but if you were interested I would email and ask for clarification.

'Two brands' - the B&O Play is a sub-brand of Bang & Olufsen. But I am sure you are aware of that.

The question is not if people in general know that there are differences. Actually I think it is good that people think of Bang & Olufsen, when they see/hear of a B&O Play product.

But the advantage of sub-branding some products is, that the company can make them different than the 'more conservative' B&O product.

They can have a different in terms of how they should/can be used. And another/a new (not necessary only the younger people) costumer segment can be adressed.

They can be sold via different channels, than the 'old school' B&O product, because they are mostly 'take-away' products.

And a different marketing strategy can be used.

Just look at the two facebook-pages, and how different the main B&O homepage and the B&O Play page is.

Who they (Bang & Olufsen) are able to reach with the B&O Play line of products is not quite clear.

And probably there are different opinions of that in the company as well. The potiential costumer base is rather diverse, so how could it be easy to define.

I am sure not everyone (in the company) appreciate a DJ Khaled branded B&O Play product.

But I am also sure that we are wasting too much thoughts on this  - it will soon be forgotten.

The H6 headphones retail in Australia for $499AUD. On the weekend there was a sale on an online discount site that had the H6s at $299AUD!

Why would I pay $499??

@Millemissen: That's why I wrote "brands", not brands.

I do think that a thread like this is good - it is important to hear what others think as it is a rather radical approach for B&O.

And here they are on the same seller's own website at yet a different price again!

A good question Roger and I think we all know the answer, looking at the automotive or watch makers world the only way to do this successfully is to completely detach from the parent brand but keep sharing certain core values and resources.

My H6 and BeoLit 12 should sit under the main B&O banner looking at their respective price points (and I have no issue with their costs) and "Play" should be aiming at say Bose, top end Sony, Technics etc market but with funkier styles/colours. These should be priced with a lower margin offset by selling higher numbers connected to a clever one to one soft marketing campaign to entice you to upgrade to B&O.

I remember working at BMW when we introduced the Mini and we followed a similar path, customers at the Mini price point were blown away by the level of customer service and care which was the norm within BMW.

I might order one of these, as the nylon bag provided isn't really up to the job of looking after my £330 headphonesErm..

Just taken delivery of a blue H6. Using the sample 24 bit lossless Mike Garson Trio Blues Take Out  recording on the Olive One I can confirm that these headphones are really superb with a balanced and full bass to treble range.
