Hi

I bought a used Beogram 1203 about a year ago and it has been working perfectly.  However, a couple of weeks ago, I went to play a record and when I pressed the start button, a loud ticking sound came out but the record did not start spinning.  If I held down the button (which I never had to do before) it would start spinning up and the noises would stop once the needle engaged.  This worked for a bit, but now the speed is audibly off and the playback is running slow.

I took it apart to see where the noise is coming from, and it appears to the the motor relay switch, which is sparking whenever the button is pressed.  From searching forums, I thought that maybe I just need to strip and clean the motor.  I have bought some isopropyl alcohol and sewing machine oil to clean and re-lubricate, but before I started I really just wanted to see if anyone else who has done this has some photos of the process so I know I am on the right track.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Peter

Check here and you will have to open the relay and clean the contacts with Deoxit or similar, be careful the (if the same as 1202) has small spring attached to the lever. Take the motor apart and clean and lubricate it, make sure the rotor is properly aligned upon assembling. Get a new belt from Axel

Use proper sinter oil for the motor bearings.
Replace the diode inside the start relay box.
