Hello,

My new Beolab 9 arrived at my dealer today on a pallet but they cant deliver them to me because their delivery guy is on vacation (!). Of course I want them as soon as possible but I can't find a car big enough to take the whole box standing up.

Would it be safe to let the box lay down? It has straps over the carton and my Avant came the same way, but without the straps I think the package will perhaps fall apart.

Anyone who have been transporting Beolab 9´s or have any suggestions?

Kind regards Michael =)

Where's the old picture of somebody transporting a pair in a Mini convertible or some such? Big Smile

I'd rent a van or get rid of the packaging prior to transport - a bit risky of course.

With one of them in my passenger seat I'd be able to use the HOV lane.  Yes - thumbs up

You transported your avant FLAT on its BACK?

I would not suggest doing THAT again. Yikes.

You should either sleep, or read again...

But anyway, no my Avant was delivered to my house standing up on a pallet. "Yikes."

I can see how it would be possible to mis-read or mis-interpret that as "same way" could have meant laying it down or that it has "straps" :P

I have white ones and have moved them around with me many times, in all sorts of cars, with no problem at all. I usually just wrap each one in a doona / quilt and lay them down, either in the boot / trunk, or on the back seat. They're pretty tough as long as the lens arent jeopardized

Nice to hear! I got that impression to now that I have them in my house. One of the speakers turns on every time I turn my TV on, even if it is not in the speaker group and it has also turned yellow without any reason. I hope it is going away and that is it not serious =).

I also notice the pattern under the fabric in daylight. I was going to buy white ones but did not because I thought it would be more visible on them - but it is visible even on the black ones. Strange :)

Sorry, I was tired. But writing in upper case is also defensive ;). Anyway - my avant has only been standing.

That doesn't sound good, mine have never showed yellow and they've been through a lot! I'd call b&o... Obviously it would under warranty as they are brand new?

In regards to the pattern of the grille visible, that's normal and I've always seen that even in the dealers. Black is the best for hiding that grille texture.

Yep of course, three years warranty. It is strange because it has now happened a few times. Every time it is when i change speaker group. And the speaker turns green when I turn the TV on, when all the others stay red (because none is in the default group). It might be a problem with the cable perhaps? I should try switching the speakers and see what happens first.

Too bad the grille looks like that but I can learn to live with it :)

I suppose the most common consideration is the cable type, if they are the thin factory power links then nothing should be wrong, but your other cables obviously need to be Micky mouse also, what has your dealer said about this? They should be visiting you personally I would have thought!

Yew, they weren't able to help with delivery quickly because their installer is on holiday. My dealer gave me a pair of thick cables with RJ45 in one end and PL in the other end. I was a bit surprised how thick they were. If I can use thinner cables (like the usual PL) without any sound quality difference then I would prefer that. I got adapters for use with those cables (din-rj45 adaptors).

I changed the PL jack on the tv for the problem speaker and it did not turn green as before, just when it should do it. I hope this helps with the yellow light problem to. If so I would guess the problem is in the tv. But time will tell :).

Would it be safe enough to have BL9 shipped internationally in their original boxes?

I believe that's how B&O ship internationally I receive products to Australia in their unopened original boxes shipped direct in some cases from Denmark

Yes, but big items such as those are usually transported upright on a pallet, which reduces the changes that they are dropped off a pitchfork or a conveyor belt. The boxes themselves are not intended to be thrown around and having other random stuff piled on top of them at every direction. Depending on the actual product and package, they might be enough but it's more good luck than planned effort then.
