Dear all,
Having recently purchased a pair of 9s I am naturally curious how high I could turn up the volume - both through TV (BV9 on Speaker 3) and iTunes (Apple TV on Speaker 2)? I know most speakers from B&O have inbuilt protection if you turn them up too loud or too much distortion is detected etc but I have never been one to risk it just in case! Also, I am not really too sure how it all works anyway. With the 9s, the highest I have gone so far is volume 60 but how much more could they go? Are there any risks of playing too loud for too long? Wear and tear, cones, foams packing up etc? In the past I have had 8000s, 6000s, 3500 and others. Do you need to be mindful of volume depending on speaker type? I'll be adding more 9s or 3s very soon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Your ears (which you should be more mindful of than your speakers anyway) will give up before the speakers allow themselves to be damaged.
I have mine currently connected to a BS3000 and the volume has reached MAX 72 with no problems or audible distortion, of course, i could not be in the same room, but it was great having music over 100 metres away at the other side of our property lol!
Prior to purchasing mine, I auditioned for around 3 hours on my own music and some video clips, via a V1 and Sony Bluray.
In a large showroom, I was listening at around 70 on the volume with no issues on music.
On one video clip (Avatar) the dealer pushed it to 86 for one scene with no issues noted (absolute Max volume on the V1 is 90)
At home I listen to music between 50 - 55 approx - source is iMac/Apple TV3 via HDMI to my V1-40 - and thence the Lab 9's.
For movies, I use a Sony Bluray player connected to V1 via HDMI and play at around 55 - 60 on the volume.
The room size is 5 x 4 metres, in an apartment, so solid concrete walls etc
There is enough LFE on movies at this level to rattle doors and windows on some movies with substantial LFE effects.
I've never been anything but thoroughly delighted in the now 18 months I've owned them.
