Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has seen this before and knows what might be wrong to give me a headstart and hopefully avoid having to post the speaker to a repairer...
One of 4 beolab 8000s we have has started making a hissing noise as soon as it switches on (led to green). It starts quiet and builds up over a minute or so. It can also fade in and out fairly randomly. I've tried different sources and cables and it definately follows the speaker. From putting my ear close, sounds to me like its confined to the tweeter. Probably need to get the fret off to confirm 100%.
Note, I drive all 4 from a NAD 910 av processor pre amp using the speakers' line in inputs, not that this is relevant. Just to be sure, I even dusted off the old beocenter 9300 and tried the speaker via power link - same.
Any ideas where to start people? I'm fairly handy and have a decent workbench. Ideally want to Avon sending the speaker off somewhere.

Hello Dan - I have exactly the same problem with my Beolab 8000 - and it's not the cable or the amp - did u find a solution ?

I have a pair of BeoLab 8000 that was just repaired for this very problem! I also found no information about it but the service technician replaced the power supply and crossover boards, updated them to the latest edition. They now sound excellent. In my case the problem was not audible for the first hours of use after plugging them in after a few hours without AC power but after having them plugged in (in standby or in use) they would make the noise as soon as they are turned on, a very annoying noise.

I have same problem with my bl8000.
Any of yuo find any fix for these issue? ANY hint ?
I have try to find source for that error but with no luck.
As i have some very good experiance with some expert here , would it be possible to some one give some direction where to look :(
Have swap some cond's but no luck till now :(

Hi Marexy, I have the same issue of 'hiss' with two pairs of BeoLab 8000.

yes...fixed...preamplifier issue. One of poamp has been bad.

I guess you are referring to an opamp (instead of a poamp).
Your solution might also solve my issue, hope to hear from you.
If you do not know smd repair and hot air soldering can be a big problem.
Try to change all poamp on pcb and maybe you will heve luck.

I can handle SMD replacements.
Do you mean yo replaced all OpAmps on the PCB?Didn't you investigate which one was defect, to any replace the broken one(s)?
Try one by one...i did so....till i find bad one.
