Hi guys,

I am about to move from one appartment to another. This means that my BV11-40 has to be driven 150km in a van and carried up on the 3rd floor in my new place. Do you guys have any recommandations regarding moving a heavy and delicate piece of equipment like the BV 11? I have previously moved a BV8-40 but this was no problem whatsoever due to the "light" weight and the fact that it could be fitted easily within its original packaging. Unfortuneately I do not have the box for the BV11 as the dealer took care of it as the TV was delivered.

The TV is fitted with the easel stand.

Any inputs would be much appreciated :)

Best regards,

Frederik

If you want to play it really safe, you can order the original BV11 packaging (complete with the wooden pallet) as a spare part from your dealer.

When I had to ship my BV11 a long distance, that's what I did. The cost for the spare box was ~150€. It's the exact same big box in which the BV11 is normally shipped. The empty & unused box was home-delivered fully assembled on the pallet, with the screen protective sheets etc. included. It made packing & transporting the BV easy & safe.

I've stored the new box for future use: it can be unassembled when not used, so it doesn't take that much space in the storage.

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.

I would wrap the whole tv in bubble wrap, plus a blanket with a thick duvet layed down in a van if you could get hold of one with it tied down securely. As it really is a fragile and delicate piece of equipment.

and it would be a shame to scratch or chip the tv or frame.

This TV may be vulnerable to flexing if laid flat. If you are transporting it in a van with adequate height the safest thing would be to bubble wrap it and strap it into the van vertically with the TV pointing front to back. That way the glass will be subject to minimum stress and flexing and it will be relatively unaffected by sudden braking.

The original B&O packing holds the TV vertically and protects from side damage by placing the TV diagonally within the box.

Thank you all for the inputs! I am considering dismounting the easel stand and transporting the TV on its back on a rubber surface wrapped in a soft blanked. Of course making sure that there is no risk of it sliding into anything. I have called my insurance company and they will cover the damage if anything happens during the transport.

Strap it to the roof of your car? :) Or hold it in place?

A very wise idea...

Seriously, the TV is large and not very stiff and you will minimise the risk of glass breakage by transporting it upright. If in doubt ask your dealer.

Edit

There's a reason why window installers carry their windows vertically in or on their vans.

Again thank you very much for the advises. I will dismount the easel stand and transport the TV upright wrapped in blankets and secured by a strapping belt to the wall of the van. I will call my dealer tomorrow to hear if he has any advices aswell.
