Greetings
My company was hired to revamp an older home system (2008). The home has a very elaborate B&O Setup throughout. We are experiencing control issues between zones. i.e. Turn on BeoSound 9000 located in Great Room (Paired with Beolab5s) and the Theatre's rear Beolab5s turn on. Volume up in great room turns on rear deck Beolink amp. Etc etc etc. I believe the issues are all related to option programming and this is where I'm having difficulty. I attempted to set these but I just can't get it right. The goal is to have all the equipment (zones) controlled independently of one another but to all share the BeoSound9000 because this is where audio input from the AV receiver is coming in. Everything (each zone) has it's own IR flasher for a third party control system.
What do I need to sent the V/L/A Options to in each zone to accomplish this?
Rough breakdown of what's there - all connected together via ML Distributors (4 I have found so far)
*Please forgive me if I get some part numbers wrong
Dining - BeoSound 3500
Kitchen - BeoSound 3500
Thanks!!!

HI JF
could you confirm if this is only an issue when using the RTI remotes?
(Make sure the Beo4 doesn't hit multiple IR targets when testing, it's quite powerful and will bounce off walls)
i've seen this many times before with control systems using IR for control, if it only happens when you are using the RTI system, then you are having IR interference issues where the IR from one wire gets modulated and transmitted via RF to the other wires, there are different ways to solve it
1) use the ML gateway or better yet the latest released BeoLink gateway for control (one rs232 wire or IP to the RTI system)
2) add the B&O IR interface boxes originally designed for Crestron back in 2002 (still available from B&O) then hardwire the IR connection and turn off modulation on the RTI IR output (this only works with B&O products that has a external IR input like the TV's and ML active and....., but not the BS9000 if controlled directly)
3) limit the transmission power out of the RTI by either adding a resistor in series with the IR flasher or turn down the current on the RTI processor (some RTI processors have this adjustment) Next up is to break the receive antenna by grounding the negative side of the IR flasher to the shield of the product the IR flasher is controlling as close to the IR flasher it self (2' is fine) note if you take this approach you'll have to test your system in broad daylight and complete darkness to ensure your fix works in both IR receiver AGC outer modes (the B&O IR receivers have automatic sensitivity gain adjustments)
Any of those 3 items will fix the problem for you, assuming I'm guessing right that it's only a problem when using he RTI

Thank you for your prompt response. It isn't just happening with the RTI system. It also happens with just powering on certain devices. It looks like the previous company did most of what you mentioned from an IR perspective, the IRs going to the silver discus controllers have all been grounded and have had resistors installed. These were butt connected so we re-soldered the ones using the older flashers and replaced others with Virsa mouse IRs. I adjusted the gain in a couple locations because the commands wouldn't execute properly until it was turned up, for example the volume would go up but not down (strange) I'm somewhat aware of the IR sensitivity and unique carrier frequency of B&O and although I think originally this was part of the issue we have combed through the installation and routed the IR commands properly In programming I feel like the option programming is the remaining issue. Some of the devices that turn on are in completely different floors of the home or inside vs outside.
If you want to control that system via Beo remotes (Beo4,5,6) these option settings may be useful:
Room/Wet Bar BeoSound 9000 (with IR from RTI RP6, aux input from receiver and Masterlink ML Distributor) BeoLab 5 (hooked up to BeoSound 9000 via Powerlink) BS9000 - A.OPT 1 (audiomaster) Rear Deck Beolink Amp (Controlled via IR and connected to Wet Bar ML Distributor) Beolink passive (?) L.OPT 6 (for audio and video) Theatre BeoSystem3 (Hooked up to ML Distributor) Beovision4 65? ( I think, haven’t pulled it off the wall) (4) Beolab5 (Powerlink to BeoSystem3) BeoLab 7-2 (I think, haven’t pulled it off the wall, Powerlink to BeoSystem3) BS3 - V.OPT 1 (videomaster) access of audio sources like BS9000 via AV-RADIO/CD,A.MEM.. Dining - BeoSound 3500 BL3500 (? link-speaker) L.OPT 5 (for audio) Kitchen - BeoSound 3500 BL3500 (? link-speaker) L.OPT 5 (for audio)

BL3500 (? link-speaker) L.OPT 5 (for audio)
Cabana/Pool/Breezeway (4) Beolink Amps (4) Beolink Active Beolab 8000 Beolink Amps AND BL8000 ? a bit too many active devices...(?!) BL-active L.OPT 5 (for audio) Garage/Entry (2) Beolink Amps (2) Beolink Active BL active L.OPT 5 (for audio) Master Bedroom Beolink Amp Beolink Active Beolab 8000 Beolink Amps AND BL8000 ? a bit too many active devices...(?!) BL-active L.OPT 5 (for audio)
Master Bath Beovision4 55? BeoLab9 (Hooked up to TV) BV4 (with second BS3 connected?) V.OPT 6 Link - BV (for video and audio) Gym Beolab 4000? Probably a Beolink Active BL active L.OPT 5 (for audio sources) NB! BL5s have IR receivers too. BL5s must be set to L.OPT 0. Test speaker assignments of the main BV (BS3-BV4) by starting a video source (TV?) and selecting SPEAKER 2. Now only the front stereo speakers should be activated. If the rear stereos are activated, look into the speaker menu of the S3. Seems like the whole system is controled by an MLGW via RTI driver. So maybe something is messed up in the MLGW setup....(?) Hope this helps Stefan

Thank you for the insight. I would love for there to be a MLGW in the system but I don't think that's the case. Instead the previous company elected to install 10 RTI PROCESSORS!!! Very poor system design to say the least. Each zone is getting control via IR behind the discus or on the TV etc. I would love to add a gateway to the system but I don't know if we will have the ability to do so. The client is planning to put the house on the market soon.
The additional Blinks in the cabana are for outdoor speakers etc. I will try the programming you suggested and see where that gets us! Thanks again
Most of the issues have been resolved with regards to the following:
Cannot get BS9000 audio to play in Theatre (BS3)
Turning off Theatre powers off BS9000, Great Room BL5 and rear deck BL amp.
Cant get Master Bedroom BL8K to source to local input (PC?) of active amp (used to work, gym works fine with same amp) I think this must be related to option programming since it did work/now doesn't and gym works fine and I didn't change option programming in there.
Cant get bathroom BV 10-46 and BL9 to play BS9000 sources (only care about A.Tape)
Also, does it take a little while for the system to recognize the V/L/A option changes? Lastly, the strangest thing is I can complete RTI programming in one room (working fine) and move to another, change to recommended option settings and program that room then the other room loses some control.
i.e. after programming upstairs Master Suite the Theatre will no longer source to DVD. Works on the Beo4 remote just not on the RTI, codes worked perfectly before, other commands are executing from RTI. This is really weird to me but may not be related to B&O side.
Any additional help would be greatly appreciated!
Most of the issues have been resolved with regards to the following: Cannot get BS9000 audio to play in Theatre (BS3) As said before you can access audio sources like BS9000 via AV - CD, AV - RADIO.....(maybe you have to add AV command to Beo4 list). 2nd option is to set the BS3 to V.OPT 2 (if it is the only IR eye in that room). Now you will be able to control BS9000 by C, RADIO, A.AUX...buttons. -------------------- Turning off Theatre powers off BS9000, Great Room BL5 and rear deck BL amp. Yes. It is also recommended to disconnect the whole system from the mains for some minutes and reconnect all devices with audio- and videomaster being the last ones (BS9000 - BS3). When you execute option settings the standby led should flash twice as confirmation. A Beolink setup is always a master/slave structure. You can access main room devices from linkrooms, but you can`t control/watch/listen to sources placed in link rooms (local sources) in the main room.

Thank you again for the additional information and help, greatly appreciated! We will be back onsite next week and I will test these options.
