What is the best way to listen to Internet Radio on a Beosound 9000 (in a link System; Masterlink to a BV7)?

Best: cheapest, easy to access?

I'm trying to connect a WiFi WLAN Internet Radio via AUX to Beosund 9000. Then I would have to change radio station with the remote of the internet radio box. (HAMA IR210)

A Beoport (used) would be perfect in the masterlink world. But then the PC has to run which is very power consuming. Does anybod have a PC like box with very low power consumtpion which could act as a internet radio player and the beoport SW could be loaded?

The beomaster with beosound 5 is much too expensive.

Any ideas?

I looked for something similar a couple of years ago and bought an earlier version of this:

http://shop.oneremote.dk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3741

It's quite pricey but mine works well and also has DAB, FM Radio and can work as a media player.

The easiest and cheapest way is to buy a (used) Beomedia 1. It's a small pc with low powerconsumption.

Update your BS9000 with Nradio and Nmusic compatible software. So internetradio will be available throughout all the link devices.

And this (BeoMedia 1) works standalone? Smile

Connect via Masterlink and that's it? (the BS9000 is connected via ML to the BV7-40. In another room is a free ML cable and an internet jack which I could connect)

I don't need N.MUSIC or Pictures etc...

I only need N. RADIO.

I would like to listen to internet radio stations in the master room and/or the link room.

When I press LIST N.RADIO on the Beo4, will it turn on the BeoMedia N.RADIO from the link room?.. form the master room?

I hope it will not turn on the BV7. In the manual it says, that it will show the display on the BV. But I want to listen to music, not watch music..

Do I need to program the N.RADIO stations via PC and BeoPort etc. (add B&O stuff) ?

Sorry the many questions. I have seen a BeoMedia used, but before buying, I want to make sure.

So, you can find a secondhand for €50 - € 75,-.

What does a Sonos costs? So a farely cheap solution I think.

Connect the BM1 via ML and VGA to the BV7. This wil give you the ability to organize/sort the internet radiostations and/or your digital musiccollection.

The BV7 will stay in standby and doesn't turn on the panel.

The BM1 has a mini ITX mainboard which only uses between the 15-30W.

If you want a BM1 that's great but pay no more the £1 for it!

Otherwise any other option is better in EVERY way.

Sonos Works perfect!

Sonos reliability and usability via the app is just lovely.

If you do have a little more to spend Autonomics/mirage just is a little more luxurious.

Combined with B&Os uncompromising and unmatched approach to sound quality.

B&O + Sonos/Autonomic Install both use both love bothBig Smile

Sorry I made a mistake £1 is far too much, the BM1 is now worthless!

So the cable is more worth than the BM1?

We were discussing a cheap solution with link capacity.

Even an iPhone or Android app isn't as easy as just only pressing Nradio followed by a number.

And don't start about quality. A BM1 has a very neat D-A converter and is limited by the quality of the internetstreams provided by the radiostations.

Sonos doesn't sound better if the source has a questionable bitrate.

Probably misread Sturrock's posting a bit.

Of course there are other options that will work. But in my opinion, these apps are interesting, but mainly used in households with just 1 or 2 persons.

Or Apple TV - that's what I use for Music and Internet Radio - I have it linked and it works perfectly, the digital out goes through a DAC converter into CD on BM6500 and so can be listened to in any link room, and you can stream from the B&O app into it or use the Apple remote app. Spent ages trying to find the right solution.

Thank you guys!

The oneremote will not fit, because it will turn on the TV when connected to the BV. When connected to the BS9000, it is not manageable in the link rom.

The BeoMedia would work, but only when connected to the BV7. But the box is huge an I already have a Blueray-Player, a STB and AppleTV hanging behind the BV7 on a stbracket. So too large, too heavy. The BeoMedia doesn't work when connected on the free ML in the link room (needs a TV).

The Apple TV (I have) doesn't have internet radio in europe (only US), except the predefined stations form apple.

So.. I wait until the BS9000 dies and will go for a Beosound 5 .. or wahtever in man years will be available.

Thank you!

I operated my OneRemote fine from an MCL link room.  For some functions it was obviously difficult because you could not see the screen, but I could turn it on and off (incl with the timer function) and change between the four preset internet radio stations that I used.

Hi Beobuddy

My setup is:

BV7 with all loudspeakers connected. Via ML a Beosound9000 in the same room. In another room a free ML connector (which has been used for a Beolink Video with a MX6000; which is no longer used).

is the connection with VGA only required once to configure/setup? I could do that. But afterwards, it must work with only ML.

The 'free' ML connector is in another room. Hence only ML available.

But I can use the ML from the Beosound 9000 and a VGA for setup. Then move the Beomedia 1 in the other room. Reconnect the ML with BS9000.

Will this work?

You can use a VGA monitor to set up and sort the BM1.

Once you've done this, a VGA or BV7 isn't necessary. Only ML will be enough. But with the BM1 connected to the BV7  gives lots more fun. Just try it.

Make sure that your BS9000 has software 2.26 for NMusic and/or NRadio use.

Thank you Beobuddy

I don't know the SW version of BS9000. But when I select N.RADIO or N.MUSIC on the Beo4, the BS9000 display shows it. Hence, I assume it has the correct version.

How could I read out the version?

Softwareversion can be read by entering TM23 in servicemode.

But often  when new software has been placed, a small sticker is placed beneath the main keyboard.

But if the BS9000 displays NMusic and NRadio, then it's ok.
