Hello Beophiles!
After scoring a mint condition Beolab 5000 Amplifier & Beogram 1200 then 'accidentally' winning a pair of good condition Beovox 2500s on eBay I was pretty wrapped. I tested it all with my beautiful pair of Beovox 3800s then packed it away until I had a proper use for it and after waiting a year or two that time has now come.
My wife and I are currently decorating our Lounge in a hybrid mid-century style and the B&O system will be one of the starring elements. I was planning to put the Beolab 5000 & Beogram 1200 side-by-side on top of a 60's sideboard and have the 3800s either side on low stands with the 2500s on top... that was until I recently discovered a pair of VGC HT 5000s on a local classifieds ;) I paid a pretty penny for them to be couriered 2500km but I knew if I didn't grab them I doubt I'd ever find them again... especially here in Australia!
They're currently in transit and I can't wait to get them in a few days time as they will complete my '5000 system which is something I never expected to be possible however there's something I will have to chase up to really complete the picture, their B&O badges! From what I've read these were gold plated so it's no wonder they're missing but can anyone tell me if these are still possible to get from somewhere? B&O themselves perhaps?! Are there any trinkets like cufflinks or keyrings that share the old B&O logo I could use instead? Any help would be appreciated, cheers.
Somebody here may have a spare set you could have - 'Leslie' or 'Dillen' immediately spring to mind. They have been seen on eBay in the past too. The Silver versions can also be Gold plated easily.
Should like (and sound) nice when complete. Enjoy them.
Dave.
Cheers Dave, I'll definitely follow that up!
Got a pair from Martin. Thanks all, very pleased :)
Good to hear, now I need one metal tagplate for my Beovox type K1 at the rearside. Maybe Martin has one? Does the K1 has the logo also for the front?

Sorry, I don't have a tag plate for a Type K.And Type K did not have a front badge.
Martin
Why me? :-) Thanks Martin!
Thought I'd update this thread now that I've taken delivery of the HT 5000s. Here's a quick pic of them temporarily setup in the Lounge room while my wife and I push furniture around to see what fits where:
Once we have the furniture sorted we'll throw some art on the wall, chuck a rug on the floor and add a lamp. Room done
Oh, and how do they sound? Well I had my little tester device connected earlier and everything works fine including the crossover pass-through to the 2500s on top. Lacking in low-end and very high top-end but I assume that will improve slightly once I get stuck into recapping the crossovers. I know they'll never sound like modern speakers but what they lack in frequency response they gain through insane floating imagery, whoa! I walked away from them and felt it follow me into another room! I had to fight it off with a stick and slam the door on it to escape!! Not to everyones taste of course but absolutely amazing nevertheless. Very pleased!
The gold plated badges will make them sound even better still, of course :)
That looks great!

Wonderful period correctness all over! Well done

Very nice indeed! On some Beovox 5000 I've noticed "Beovox 5000" engraved in one or both of the two frontchrome feet, close to the floor.Unaware owners could potentially fit these feet as the rear or rotate them so the lettering can't be seen.

Yes, I can confirm this. Mine have the stamped/engraved front legs which is the subtlety I prefer and why I like vintage B&O gear. You can just see it in the pic above on the bottom of the left leg on the right-side speaker.
I actually now think that this first model never came with badges so when I get mine from you I'm not sure if I'll fit them now. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it but I fear the glimmer of gold plating will sway me ;)
The grill logos are mentioned in the service manual so can't be all wrong.

Must've been the luxury upgrade at the time ;)
Never noticed the engraving! Will have a grovel on the floor tonight!! I am actually seriously thinking of selling my Mk3 5000s as they are just taking up space. I use different speakers with my 5000 system.

Is all the legs stamped or only one per speaker?
