Hello Peter and Svend fans !

Simple question for ATV users : can you stream any content from your idevice to your tv (bv11) ?

For example, I would like to send BBC iplayer from my ipad to the bv11 (with a VPN adress).

Right now I can't access my tv's BBC iplayer because of geolocalisation problem (I'm in France) so I watch it on ipad.

Also the webmedia player of the tv is more limited than an ipad so it would be great to send what's on the ipad to the tv.

If it is possible is the quality good ? because if it's rubbish never mind.

Thanks.

Yes indeed you can.  I stream BBC iplayer from my iPad to my Apple TV all the time, connected to my Avant.  I use Unblock Us, a great DNS service that allows me to access BBC iplayer, ITV player, US Netflix and the other US steaming apps.

The quality is pretty good from the iplayer, just make sure you choose HD quality in the apps settings.

As a second option, if your IP address is blocked, you can change the country setting on your Beovision to UK and the BBC Iplayer internal app will show up in your webmedia.  I use it too on my Avant.  So if you're just looking for BBC iplayer, you don't necessarily need an Apple TV.

Wow thanks, that's a quick and effective answer !

I like your second option but don't understand how I can change the country setting of the tv to UK (and what is a blocked IP adress !). I would love to do that to access BBC iplayer, indeed it's my main concern.

On WebMedia I go to UK apps and ad BBC iplayer but I get the "geolocalisation error" message.

Good to know at least that Apple Tv works great.

Changing country to UK works well to get iPlayer, i do the same. That however does also adjust your tv's clock to UK time which may cause issues with recordings (assuming you use internal hard drive?)

I see thanks. In the main setting I choose country : UK.

Will try tonigh. If that´s it it´s fantastic ! No need for an ATV then (for the moment because Netflix is coming in France in september).

I have no internal hdd so recording won't be an issue.

Snif, it doesn't work with uk for me : geolocation error.

I have to reset the entire settings twice now. One for UK, one for France again !

I don't think it will work unless you use a VPN for your TV also (rather than iPad).  Basically the provider (in this case BBC/iPlayer) can detect that you are attempting to connect from a French IP address, and will not allow it whatever the settings of your TV or Apple TV.

I do not have a VPN, hence tend to make use of filmon.com which is free.

Hi BeoGreg

If you can get BBC iplayer working on your iPad, it should work with your Beovision too.  The VPN or DNS settings that you changed on your iPad to make that work with iplayer, you also need to do the same to the settings on your TV.   It sounds like you have your iPad blocked but not your TV.

Okay.  If you want to use your iPad, then you'll have to stream via an Apple TV.

I don't know how much you pay for your securitykiss app but Unblock Us is well worth a look.  It is a security DNS service.  So you just change a few numbers on your network settings and it hides your location.  Unlike most VPN services it doesn't slow down your network at all.  Because it is a very simple set up, you can do it directly on your router.  Which means any device connecting to that router, wifi or Ethernet, is automatically blocked without having to set up each of your devices.

It allows me to use BBC iplayer, itv player, US Netflix (which has a far larger library than the European versions), NBC, ABC and whole lot more.  It's just $4.99/month.  http://www.unblock-us.com

Thanks for the tip Solidsnake I will have a look. That´s what I need for the BV11 router.
