The BeoCenter 1 is an analog TV. My question is to add a digital converter, do I plug it into the RF input or do I need this STB Module.

To what "Set Top Boxes" does this STB Module apply.....??

Regards,

Duncan

You connect the digital converter using scart.

The STB module makes it possible to control e.g. a cable box with the remote.

You connect a special cable from the STB minijack to the IR receiver on the cable box. The TV need to be equipped with the right codes for the specific unit you want to control.

You can find more information about the STB here: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/wikis/stb/default.aspx

The codes are loaded on a controller chip. Dependent on your region you can check if the box you want to control is in the STB list.

although my BeoCenter 1 has STB I just connect the Freeview receiver through the scart socket. The only thing I have noticed when wanting to ugrade my aging receiver was less and less manufactures offering scart connectivity.

Hope you are impressed with the sound and picture quality as I am.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

This is also a problem I recently had (lack of SCART outlets on HD recorders).  I needed a new HD recorder but not a single one in France could I find with a SCART outlet (Peritel), they were all digital HDMI or optical outputs.  I actually bought one in the UK on my last visit and brought it back with me to France.  It was for a Beovosion AV9000 in the bedroom and only has SCART inputs.

Dave.

You can find converters from HDMI to Scart. Im not sure about the picture quality though. You will get a composite video signal over scart.

OK, next question - does anyone have any idea where I can purchase a STB module for the BeoCenter 1 and the East Asia Controller chip (P/No. 8344788)

Thanks everyone (as usual for all your help)

Guess you need to do it through your local B&O dealer.
