I have just seen this on a Danish auction site:
Have any of You Beoworlders ever seen a BG 5005 like this?
It definitely looks like a Beogram 3000. The 5005 we all know, was sharing the design of the 5000/5500 system - so what could the explanation be for this one???
Congratulations with your Beogram, Dennis.
No - I wasn't one of the bidders. I have several of those tangential Beograms. And this was a bit more than I would pay for a Beogram - even if it's a rare one.
But I'm looking forward to hear a little more about this one. If it does have a red label, etc.
Got home with it about an hour ago. Haven't tested it yet. One thing I noticed is that the motor is quite noisy when spinning the platter manually, but apart from that it looks fine - the tip on the MMC4 looks good as well. There's no label on it, and it doesn't look like there's ever been one, but other differences (model name, orange printing, platter surface is a bit odd, no printing on the circuit board etc.) does make me believe, that it's a prototype.
Regarding the price; well, you can usually pick up a BG3000 for around 500 DKK, and I ended up spending 2100 DKK on this one + fuel. A bit pricey compared to what I usually pay for these prototypes, but it fits nicely into my collection, so I went for it.
Oh, and that little errand in Struer I talked about earlier? I'll let the pictures talk for themselves first:
Sadly it isn't for sale. I will keep it's location a secret, but it's in good hands, which is always good to know. It has no. 1707 and Peter's has no. 1686, which could indicate, that there's has been made at least 22 BM4401's if there's been a BM4401 for all numbers between those two. Could be interesting to know, which no. Frede's has.
More pictures of my BeoGram 3000/5005 will come later. Firstly mom's car needs a wash.
