Hi

After 34 years of being brand loyal, I am getting to goto Struer with a friend to see the Museum - just wondering if it is better to drive there or get a train and roughly how long each way takes?

Try this website. It gives you train and bus schedules across the country. That's the cheapest way. About 4 hours each way.

Are you planning a trip for just one day?

Then train would be the best possibility - look out for the 'orange ticket' to save money.

If you want to spend a couple of days in the area, you should prefer hiring a car.

In that case drop by at 'Den glade Pingvin' for a couple of beers 🍻

And/or go watch a movie - the cinema in Struer is one of the three cinemas in DK with Dolby Atmos sound.

If you are looking for bed and breakfast I can highly recommend this:

Very friendly people!

We lived there on the legendary Beoworld-Tour 2007.

It was Lee's if I remember rightly. Peter wrote about the trip on the old site.

I'm not sure if Simonbeo was joking - or...

But anyway... Volkswagen owns Bentley - so somebody might call it a Phaeton coupé... 😁

A lot of underpinnings from the Dresden VW plant make their  way to Crewe . A bit like B&O tv panels really.

So a car if you have a couple of days, and take the time to visit:

  1. Billund - for LegoLand
  2. Arhus - for all the things that a university town has
  3. Skagen - for the historic artists commune, the sailing lifestyle, and to be able to stand at the juncture of two seas
  4. and various points in between -- we loved every minute of the week we spent in and around Struer

The ARoS art museum in Aarhus is really something you must see

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Thanks everyone, really looking forward to next week, my neighbour that is going with me will only allow a day at the museuem - and that's the first day we get there - so will have to plan a revisit - at least she's a B&O fan too!

I dont think we appreciated how much stuff there would be too see - so one day at Struer, two days in Copenhagen - half a day at the store and then onto Malmo and Ystad - to see the Wallander stuff - she is a big fan of all things Nordic. Useful to have a she neighbour as she buys all my old B&O stuff off me!

I wanted to go to Ysted too - for exactly the same reason !

If she is a fan of Camilla Läckberg's novels you should go to Fjällbacka (West coast os Sweden as well)

I visited Denmark last week and  Struer on thursday. For the first time and it was very interesting.

I've seen the (new) museum, the factory (only from the outside Sad ), the estate "Quistrup" from a small distance where it all started and the centre with harbour.

A few kilometers further you'll find the B&O dealer of Bremdal. The owner is a very kind  man who specially opened his second (life) store with lots of B&O. I think he has the largest collection of Beolits.

Another thing/tip about the museum.

All the text written on the displays next to the items (through the whole museum) is in danish. A fellow dutch member (of Beofriends and living there for 10+ years) translated the most for us. That made it more interresting.

So a tip for the museum, translate/duplicate all the text in english. The small booklet with text and photos (which was handed for temporarily use)  could be a bestseller for tourists.

BTW, the walking distance from the railway station to the museum is only a few minutes.

I can confirm that. Wink

I rode there a couple of months ago on the bad boy you see on the picture below. I was going home to my grandparents which took me through Struer. They live about 15 km from Struer and I 45 km, so it was a good 60 km trip with only one gear. Luckily I had tailwind, so it only took me 3 hours to cover the 60 km including breaks.
