Here's what might help you: Go look at most of the dealers and see if they are carrying stock or even still a demo unit of the 11-55. They know - despite what you might end up reading.
Its tick, tick, tick all the way through features and price. I'm really confused why they did what they did in terms of positioning. However, I also know the Avant is walking off the shelf at a very fast rate - so maybe cannibalisation is no bad thing.
mbdj:What would you choose?
This has already been asked - the other day. Check out the other thread on this (similar) subject.
Personally, having owned a BV11-46 and Avant, I'd plump for the BV11-55, at least for now.
I don't take too much notice of the "selling fast" dealer talk. They told us the same info about the BV10 and BV11, too. Plus, something that sells fast doesn't necessarily mean it's the best product in the business. Dealers are good sales people and the price is right. The BV11-55 gives you a better picture and a slightly improved audio experience. Like I said, at least for now.

Not sure how one TV can be better than another for right now. I'm guessing most people keep their TV for more than 1 year normally.
@MBDJ: Would suggest you visit your dealer and make your own choice. I think you'll find it pretty straightforward on viewing and listening. The overall designs are quite different and may steer you a particular way. Oherwise the guts of both machines are fairly similar with the Avant featuring various technical advances to the same basic chassis, greater overall sound output and a 4k panel.
You can't go wrong with either. However, if you are looking for an 11, then a used model may play out for you as many people have traded theirs in for the Avant as can be seen by the increased inventory at Lifestyle AV. Beolab 8000's are also widely available at great prices.
To compare like for like, compare a 55" BV11 to an Avant - I don't believe a comparison between a 46" BV11 and an Avant are valid regarding pixelation etc. - at a set distance the 55" will look more "pixelated".
Ban boring signatures!
What made you decide to choose this?
BeoVision 11 all the way!
There is something about the style which just oozes class. Perhaps I prefer something a little more obvious than the subtle lines of the Avant.
Aside from that I do prefer the HD picture on the 11 too..
