Did I write that, did I???

Please don't put something into my words, that was not there.

So why do I need to "remember that iDevices don't support aptX."?

Because owners of iDevices would not benefit from aptX (if there is any benefit).

To them it is more a theoretical discussion.

Rombeek:

Peter the Biker, what do you mean by "The device to connect the beovision 8 and the moment to my beolab 9s" ?

How should the moment be connected to a BV 7 mk3 with Beolab 8000s ?

Of course I should have let Peter - or his dealer - answer that question, but....

.... this can be achieved with the NL/ML converter - just like with any other integration of NL and ML products.

Sound quality with Bluetooth AD2P is very poor, even in a car. So this is not a theoretical discussion, without aptX Bluetooth is useless with good Beolabs.

And Bluetooth aptX will also be available vor iDevices, that's for sure.

Bluetooth AD2P is enough in a car with standard speakers or for small Bluetooth speakers in a bathroom or kitchen.

Well, I could bring this quote instead:

'Generally speaking, aptX seems to offer better sound quality over SBC, though how much depends largely on the gear and how it's implemented. It is possible, though, to get great-sounding gear without it, just by picking great-sounding gear in the first place.'

I have read the article a couple of times now - I can't find anything about 'not having tested it'

@Räuber

I don't need either of them on a Moment!!!

Let's wait and see, if someone has the answer to what is supported - no use to argue about this.

But they can't (or won't) tell you about the 'multiroom' capacities, because the software for this hasn't been finished yet.

At time being you can use the Moment with it's own speakers, with a tv (as speakers) or with it's own speakers

and 1 (!) tv in another room.

As they write on the Moment subpage, the 'multiroom-thing' will be rolled out during the spring (and summer, I guess).

At the press show in Vegas they gave a peek of the multi room function. Music was playing from the Moment. A person went over to an A9 in the other side of the room and simply touched it, and it played the same music. He then went over to a Essence knob and did the same. Super simple. Smile

I know - and it is simple.

The demo in Vegas - however - was fake.....At least partial.

They wanted to be sure, that it works, when showing it to the press.

As I have written before, the software hasn't been quite finished yet.

And that is the reason, why it won't be rolled out yet.

But that is exactly how it works - in it's simplest form.

Here you go -

"The trick is testing the same pair of aptX-enabled headphones or speakers with two different phones, one with aptX, the other without, running the same audio files. To my knowledge, no one has done this. I'll certainly aim to do just that in a future article.............."

Thanks - i missed that part.

Interesting - if no one has done that yet, we can't be sure, that the aptX codecs is the better Unsure

All high quality Bluetooth receivers have aptX codec built in, p.e.:

http://www.amazon.de/Yamaha-YBA-11-Bluetooth-Adapter-Schwarz/dp/B00BWEUNAA

You can of course connect such a receiver to AUX-IN of the Moment, but that would be not a neat solution.

So we have to wait if the Moment has this Bluetooth codec, because I think A9, A2 and H8 work also with aptX.

But I will also have to wait until summer to realize if the Moment can be integrated in my Masterlink system with the NL/ML-converter, but I doubt.

Last year I wanted to go for the Essence, but it cannot be integrated in a Masterlink system. I like the idea with Spotify Connect very much because an IPad would only work as a remote for the Essence and not for streaming. My dealer told me that there will be a software update for an integration with Masterlink. But this never happened, meanwhile an Essence Mk2 had been announced. So waiting again...

In general I'm tired of waiting for software updates and also to add receivers or converters to get my system working. I only want to spent money to extend my existing B&O equipment.

@Räuber

What makes you think, that the Moment can't be integrated into your ML-setup?

Ok - that might depend on, whether you want to keep your existing audiomaster, or not?

But why do you think, that you'll have to wait untill summer to learn more about that?

Anyway - it won't bring you any Spotify/Spotify Connect.

If you mainly are interested in the Spotify Connect feature, you should consider adding a Gramofon to your existing audiomaster/line-in.

I feel the same they need to think about the large number of customers like use that will transition a ML'd house over time. I like to moment and will get one the 'moment' it can be FULLY integrated with ML NL/ML

Today at my dealer

MM works for the B&O propaganda squad and he does a great job. I want that combo.

I can't buy it right now because we are looking for a one room bigger home but I think I'm ready to replace my BS 9000 / BL 8000 combo with that one.

I don't work for B&O - at least they don't pay me for it 😉

You may call me an 'ambasador'!

I simply do, what I can - to help B&O survive and bloom.

@request from MM

Yesterday I collected the Moment from my dealer and installed it. For the moment the Moment can only be connected to one other NL product (or als stand alone). If one try to JOIN the Moment connected to one BV11 on the other BV11 or a BLC NL/ML, the later source simply turns off.

If the Moment is connected to a ML BV through a BLC NL/ML than the sound can be distributed to other rooms.

The installation is simple and straith forward

Multi room, Multi source should be available later this year.

Will post a picture later

Thanks Carolpa.

That you - at time being - only can connect to the Moment from one NL-BV, i did already know.

We will have to wait a couple of months for (much) more to come.

Your comment about the connection through the NL/ML Converter - however - could be very interesting to a lot of current B&O owners.

Looking forward to learn more about how to do this.

For access from a ML product, which beolink command do we use? Which Sources do we need to have available? For example, will there be a conflict if we already use CD, N.MUSIC, RADIO, or N.RADIO on a BeoSound 5?

Yes, very interesting for me. I would like to connect a Moment to my BV 7-40 via ML/NL-converter and my questions are as follows:

1. Can you assign a hardkey or softkey (via LIST) on Beo4 to hear the sound of the Moment through Beolabs connected to BV 7?

2. If you press the assigned button on Beo4 will the Moment play music at once or must the Moment be switched on additionaly?

3. Is it possible to start playing music by only touching the wheel on the wooden top of the Moment?

2. Is it possible to connect the Moment if already an Audiomaster exists (BS 9000) that uses RADIO and CD button on Beo4?

Answers are much appreciated.

That can be in principle all dependable of which are available on ML. F.e. if CD is used for a source it can't be used anymore.

This depends on how the BLC NL/ML is programmed

@Räuber

1. Yes

2. Not sure but I would say YES. My BV11 starts when I give the command to play somthing.

3. Definitely YES

4. Not sure, but I would be surpriced that it is impossible depending of how 1 or maybe 2 BLC are programmed (I have 2 BLC one as ML V,Master with several ML products, BS5, BC6, BV6 and one as Source just with a BS3000 connected to it)

Connected to a NL-tv it is definitely a Yes. You don't have to do anything extra with the Moment.

I can't see why it should be different, if connected to a BV7 through the converter.

Two questions:

1) is it possible to search for a song or album on the Moment?

2) is it possible to jump to the end of the list of albums, or to a specific starting character?

Or is this kind of stuff the domain of the BeoMusic app? Does the BeoMusic app act as a controller app for the Moment?

How many would slavishly polish off fingerprints from the glass of their BC3000 orBC9000's, or the smoked glass of their beogram? Why is it acceptable on a tochscreen you may leave viewable on a stand?

Is a touchscreen really B&O, where's that extra mile?

They have gesture control (swiping) around the scrollwheel, why not non-contact gesture control for the whole surface? Anything to give a wow factor beyond a plain vanilla tablet!
