The OS is by the bye, the touchscreen is a utilitarian machine interface but is messy on a glass surface! It doesn't shout "stylish" or "premium product".
Ban boring signatures!
After watching the youtube video of the basics of operations, and by now, quite a few photos on this site. Obviously I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, but I have a few thoughts:
Design wise, the aluminum slab and wood finish on the other side are pretty striking. The matching aluminum gran on the sides down through the sound heart are just what we expect from B&).
the integration of the touchscreen (rounded borders, and then the black border as well), appears to be an afterthought in design. We're so used to having a display, interactivity under a unified surface, it seems disjointed, unbefitting of the B&O monniker.
The Soundheart seems to only be a place for the connections, and a place for an angled placement and charging. It is ugly. I hope B&O will release other options for different placements, especially one against the wall, or on a pedestal stand sort of like the pedestal charging stand for the Beolin 7000 remote. I admit it is difficult to make a naked charging base for anything look pretty and interesting, but a company I thought would be able to, was B&O.
Finally, the user interface. I like some of the subtleties, like the mood wheel. But I think that many users will find that there are a LOT of gestures to remember on the touch screen, and when one is on a particular screen, the gestures are modal, therefore, users will have to remember that the same gestures may have different outcomes depending on the screen they're on. I would have loved to see persistent icons for functions across the UI, maybe this is an option. Instead of trying to remember how to use the device, the option of tappable buttons might reduce an incorrect gesture, and make for a better user experience.
The concept is very good, unifying sound sources across the board. The execution, to me, leaves a lot to be desired.
Carolpa: beojeff:For access from a ML product, which beolink command do we use? Which Sources do we need to have available? For example, will there be a conflict if we already use CD, N.MUSIC, RADIO, or N.RADIO on a BeoSound 5? That can be in principle all dependable of which are available on ML. F.e. if CD is used for a source it can't be used anymore. This depends on how the BLC NL/ML is programmed

I'm afraid that I can't understand your explanation. My question was which sources can be assigned for the Moment. I am already using CD, RADIO, A.AUX, and A.MEM on my BeoSound 5.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

If a device isn't setup as an AudioMaster, the only sources it can distribute are N.MUSIC and N.RADIO.
If the BeoSound Moment can be setup as a N.MUSIC/N.RADIO sever, I think it'll conflict with the Beosound 5.

Sorry. That was meant to be a joke. I'll keep any more for Wednesday.

Did you read this user manual?
Flere:Two questions: 1) is it possible to search for a song or album on the Moment? 2) is it possible to jump to the end of the list of albums, or to a specific starting character? Or is this kind of stuff the domain of the BeoMusic app? Does the BeoMusic app act as a controller app for the Moment?

The way of searching is: find the Artist (by swiping or jumping to a letter (a keyboard can be used). Then swipe through the Albums. There you can find the numbers. So point 2) not sure if possible.
I didn't see a way to find Albums or Numbers directly (until now anyway). But it is easy and quick to find anything.
I would improve the way Albums are displayed if one has found an Artist though

My remark was: if you already use all of these Command you can not use them again you have to find/use others/
Peter the Biker:Did you read this user manual?
Congrats to B&O they really did their best to give you a very extensive user manual when buying the costly Moment. It looks to me more as a flyer...
Forgotten this words as an intro: 'Read this for a start and find the rest yourself !'
They could at least go deeper into the setup menu.
"Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see, let your ears tell you the truth."
Don't despair!
It is rather selfexplaining as you go along in the settings menu.
So - I'd rather say: 'read this for a start and the proceed on the device'.

Chris Townsend:One small thing I noticed is that you swipe to the left to forward a track, and right to rewind. Surely the logical way would swipe right to advance. Am I correct? Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Beovision 8-32, Avant RF 28, Beolab 8000, Beolit 12, Beoplay A2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H6, Form 2.

The Moment looks surprisingly good in this pic next to the BL18.
However, the wooden side of the control panel is horrid. Hopefully they'll offer it in different colors and materials.
Too long to list....
Puncher, great idea with having the touch control surface different from the screen. The volume wheel could have been used for this, and the screen being a beautiful real glass screen like the BS5's.

You are right. I was thinking of the same thing.
Chris Townsend:Surely the logical way would swipe right to advance. Am I correct?
Absolutely, Mr. Spock would call it Illogically Illogical
Aussie Michael:I don't get why people would want the Moment to be connected through their TV's if the TV already can access NAS and all streaming services like Deezer. What's the point?
What's the point?
I want the Moment connected at my V1 because my BL 8000 main speakers are connected to it for TV-sound. Audio (cd, radio,...) is coming thru the ML/NL converter.
In fact, I want the Moment in connection with everything (summer 2015?)
I suspect it's the interface, the touch screen and wheel is probably a lot easier to use than the TV remote to look thru or search your music, be it on NAS or Deezer, and it provides the Mood Wheel which the TV doesn't.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Thanks for posting the pictures, good call to make the cabinet the same wood as the tablet. We should all be so lucky!
Fit and finish look suitably high end. Looks better than some pictures as you say. Not the visual disaster some seem to think it is in my opinion.
Looks like B&O took the "turning pages in book" way of moving forward & backward ... unusual for sure

badgersurf: Can you control the moment from a MLGW?
The latest version of the software should allow you to send BeoRemote One commands.
Flere:Thanks. And also to Peter the Biker for pointing to the UM. I did not know the "tap again on artist" to call up the search keyboard. - Flere smile and enjoy the moment

BeoGreg:Does someone have the "country of origin" of the product please ? (RPC, CZ, DK ?)
(RPC, CZ, DK ?)
I don't know if that is officially correct, but I would rather like to ask about 'the country of assembling'.
The origin of the product is a complicated matter - as it is with most products nowadays.
Some is from Denmark: oak, aluminium...
Some is from 'one or more far east country/ies'.....
The concept has it 'origin' in Denmark, but is develloped in a cooperation with other 'not-DK' located companies.
Does it really matter that much, where it is assembled - as long as the product is fine and the quality is, how we expect it from a Bang & Olufsen product?
Most internal parts used by B&O are from the Far East, and that is since the Beogram 4002 I believe...

Hi BeoGreg, the tablet will probably be a made to order from one of those new cheap and expanding electronics companies in China. It does seem an awful lot of money for the little it does, however, someone will love it and buy it, just for that badge! (not the Made in China badge, the other one - BANG&OLUFSEN).
