mbolo01: Hiort: When you say "metadata cleanup", don´t you have your music in iTunes? I do have my NAS music initially organized by iTunes, but I found many discrepancies in type of music setup, cover missing for some tracks, artist name not written consistently, etc ... which is normal after 5 years and more than 31000 tracks, so I have preferred to clean the shop before letting the Moment play with it, fair isn't it ? :-) what im curious about is (1) the time it will take to digest the full library (2) the time to reflect any change in the library, a mystery for now. My reseller told me that integrating his 4000 tunes was reasonably fast, we will see ...

I've only got 9811 songs, but still and all I've been recently going thru and fighting iTunes to get things reorganized, delete duplicates, etc. It's messy, and in a lot of cases seems to have no real reason to be. While I use iTunes, it's by no means perfect and I don't like it all that much.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
elephant:I believe the Moment has a large (128GB?) amount of storage for things like playlists
It would be nice if b&o also created this in the beosound 5!

Looks promising in many ways, but I can't seem to find it having an ability to AirPlay broadcast to something like the PlayMaker. ?

Hiort:Moment installed. Simple install. Currently indexing my iTunes library. Will see tomorrow how it worked out. Sound from Deezer is really really good Think screen is a bit unresponsive sometimes when I press to select an album. Happy owner of: BV11 46", NL/ML Converter, 2 x Beocom 2, Beocom 6000, Beocenter 2, Beolab 3, Beolab 2000, Beo4, Beolab 11, Playmaker, Beolab 3500, 2 x Beolit 12
Over night the Moment appear to have indexed my iTunes library on my Synology NAS. I´m using the built in media server on the NAS.
However, since I was so quick with getting the Moment into place and configured, I did not notice the note in the box saying that Moments manufactured before Feb x had to be factory reset. Otherwise the Moment is pointed at the wrong Beocare server and software download will not work.
So I have to do everything from the beginning this evening But setting up was rather painless. My biggest problem was that I had forgot my passwords to Deezer and TuneIn accounts . Upgrading my Deezer account with the voucher that came with the Moment worked well.
Integrating the BV11 and Moment was easy from the "integration menu" in the BV11 menu. All Moment sources play over my BL3s and BL11, connected to the BV11.
I have a Beo4, so now I can press:
"CD" to get the Moment to play last played que from media server
"RADIO" to play last played Radio station in TuneIn on Moment
"A.MEM" to start the Bluetooth input on Moment
Sound from all sources are very very good! Crisp and detailed. Everything you would expect is there
Some initial questions surfaced:
- How can I add artist artwork where Moment cannot find anything? I have a few Swedish artists, and on the "artist level" no artwork is shown (and on some wellknow artist its missing as well). Moment evidently finds its own artwork for the artist, since its not whats shown in iTunes.
- Moment does not pick up the albums iTunes have sorted under Compilations. Compilations is on the artist level in the folder tree iTunes creates. Not sure how to handle this.
lonfred:Hi Hiort, It looks fantastic. I can see that you also have an ML/NL converter, BC2 and BL3500 and BL2000 etc. It will be really interesting to see what function you will get if you use N-Music and N-Radio virtuall button on BEO4 against the ML products. Looking forward to your review.

Actually I replaced the Beocenter 2 with the Moment ( and added a Beolink Converter Type No 1611 to power the ML). Moment does not take e.g RADIO command sent from the Masterlink. That will come in the "multiroom upgrade" this summer if I understand B&O correctly.
I have not configured anything towards the N-Music and N-Radio.

Prompt answer from BeoCare <bogo@mailgb.custhelp.com>:
Regarding your missing "artist artwork", then we are sorry to say that this can not manually be embedded. These pictures and this information is controlled Gracenote. However if you can provide me with some specific information about which artists whose artwork is missing, some names and pictures would be great. Then we shall pass on the information and hopefully they will be integrated into the BeoSound Moment.
I have sent you a Pm about this problem

Does that mean that Gracenote knows what music do you have /or listen to ? ???
Hiort: "A.MEM" to start the Bluetooth input on Moment
Hi Hiort,
have you tried 'pushing' something (via Bluetooth connection) to the Moment/BV11 not turned on/in standby?
See (or rather hear) what happens!
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Facel: Does that mean that Gracenote knows what music do you have /or listen to ? ???
I guess Moment is getting the index over my music library from my NAS. Then it matches the artist name towards Gracenote database, to get artwork to display in "artist view". That artwork is not available in the library.
I have asked the question if Moment pick also the album artwork from Gracenote. It may be so that Moment checks with Gracenote if there is no albumart in the metadata it receives from the NAS.
So, to answer your question: Yes, but Gracenote do not know who you are.
Hiort: So, to answer your question: Yes, but Gracenote do not know who you are.
They simply know your Ip Adress
@ hiort
normaly the dlna server first looks into the subfolder where the artists album is stored. there he searches a file named folder.jpg or cover.jpg. this file contains the artwork of the artists album.
if there is no such file found, he searches in the internet.
you could manually put such a file into the appropriate folder. in case the artwork is not found automaticly or you want a special own artwork:
wether by searching the internet, scan a cd-lp cover or take a picture with your camera.
this way it works for my bv 11 and it should work the same way for moment.

I knew I missed some steps :-) as I never read manuals .... My update function not behaving correctly, I know why now tks
fyi:
- WiFi setup does not support hidden SSID
- sometimes text Is displayed in Spanish for those who have set the locale to French/France
- RCA line in needs pushing the source to a much higher volume than through the Transmitter 1 RCA
BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1
Seems that Deezer Elite is going global (for Sonos) next month.

Will BS Moment owners benefit from this upgrade (some day in near future)?
If yes ------ who need locally stored music anymore?
No more fiddling with missing metadata and/or coverpics anymore
mbolo01: - RCA line in needs pushing the source to a much higher volume than through the Transmitter 1 RCA
Could you explain that a bit - I do not understand what you mean (speaking of the Moment)???

Thanks,
Almost all my files are MP4 files and handled with iTunes.
EDIT:
iTunes stores the coverart in a separate file, so I assume Moment is pulling nearly all my coverart from Gracenote.
What I understand from B&O is that Moment first look for Album-art from the NAS, and if not found there look at Gracenote.
Millemissen: mbolo01: - RCA line in needs pushing the source to a much higher volume than through the Transmitter 1 RCA Could you explain that a bit - I do not understand what you mean (speaking of the Moment)??? MM
May mean that the Moment is less sensitive than Transmitter 1, when it comes to out sensing the input. Or?
I have an A/V amp pre-out connected to the RCA Line In
With the Tr1, a volume of 30 out of 99 was a good default baseline
With the Moment, a volume of 90 out of 99 + 10dB gain set for digital sources in the A/V configuration gives an equivalent baseline
Hope it is clearer
"What I understand from B&O is that Moment first look for Album-art from the NAS, and if not found there look at Gracenote."
that is what i wanted to say, and therefor you can manually paste the artfile into the right folder or embed it into the soundfile.
mp4 is a apple file format based on mp3, in case of sound.
i do not know if albumart is included; nor if moment could read this format.
you can convert all your mp4 soundfiles within i tunes into mp3 format, and then easily check if a picture is included.

You probably know, that you have three different 'gain options' for the line-in of the Moment?
Millemissen: You probably know, that you have three different 'gain options' for the line-in of the Moment? MM
Yes, I've tried without feeling much difference
i have reported to B&O, waiting for an answer that I'll share here
I would not say so!
But only the Essence 2. Generation will work within a NL-multiroom setup.
Note: you will only have to upgrade the 'hide-away box', you can keep the 'wheely'.

As I asked 'my friend' to test that 5-6 weks ago, he told me that sending audio from a Bluetooth device (which of course has to be paired with the Moment before) would cause the BV (if it is the output of the Moment) to turn on from scratch.
This and the line-in should behave so - auto-sensing!
N.B. This only works with the proper Quick-start timer settings.
BeoBoy68: ?? the box of BeoSound Essence is not available alone. The wheel is included.

The wheel is included.
Which does not mean, that it could not change - at least for an introduction period.
We'll see!

Hiort: Over night the Moment appear to have indexed my iTunes library on my Synology NAS. I´m using the built in media server on the NAS.
I slept very well, but my Moment seems to have done the same instead of importing my music collection ... no album, nor a track from my DLNA source that I can identify (Synology DS212J) .... I can see the IP address of the SoundHeart in the Device Lists from the NAS Media Server application.
I have changed some DLNA settings, we will see, maybe I've not been patient enough for the large collection I have, but a better progress status indicator is missing on the beast!

Always good to ask, yes I have Media Server up and running, other DLNA players can see it (just tested with a Sony TV)
I just relaunched the DLNA setup on the Moment and the scan was fast in fact, but no music .... I have to dig more I guess. Always challenging :-)

Spooky. Mine worked flawless (apart from some missing artwork). Do you have your itunes library on the NAS, or just audio files stored in your own structure? I guess Moment need the following files structure: MUSIC/artist/album/

The DMA service should manage the music index and present it to the client that should not worry about the directory structure underneath. I'm wondering if the locale settings are not an issue here too, What regional setting is your NAS configured with?
