After several attempts I finally set my Moment to English language and my DMA Menu language too
I can now see some activity on the NAS and the Moment is still processing where prior to the change it would have finished earlier .... will see
Second language issue I'm seeing, not good to be French at the Moment :-)

Late final update: my library is too big for the Moment, I have started a new library, adding albums progressively. I'll report to B&O
Hiort: EDIT: iTunes stores the coverart in a separate file, so I assume Moment is pulling nearly all my coverart from Gracenote. What I understand from B&O is that Moment first look for Album-art from the NAS, and if not found there look at Gracenote.

Even when i play music from my ATV via "iTunes in the cloud" it shows different cover art than from my PC/Mac. It must be a cloud issue whereby it looks at the folder first then if fail, it looks up the artist via grace note. Grace note powers a lot of services, and even my Sony uses it too. I see it as a good thing as its often nicer anyway :-)
Would the moment pick up music files stored on an Apple Time Capsule? Or not because it's not a music server?
mbolo01:Late final update: my library is too big for the Moment
Please explain how you come to this conclusion. To many albums? MP3 or AIFF ripped? More then a one TB...

Chris: mbolo01:Late final update: my library is too big for the Moment Please explain how you come to this conclusion. To many albums? MP3 or AIFF ripped? More then a one TB...
My library has about 31500 tracks (AAC and ALAC)
While adding DLNA content in the Moment I have monitored the Synology activity and I could see the DMS process being sollicited from time to timeAfter several minutes, about 10, the Moment displayed a completed import but no track/album from my collection were present in the Moment.
First thing I found strange: I tested my Sony TV to play music leveraging the Synology DLNA to proof that it was working OK. When the Sony TV query about "All music", it takes a while to display a list of all the tracks but it does the job. On the process monitoring side I could see sustained DMS activity, not sporadic like when the Moment queries the Synology.
I decided to move my 31k tracks iTunes library out of the DMS Music directory and created a brand new iTunes library in it where I loaded 300 ALAC tracks. I started the "Add your content" process again and guess what .... after 10 minutes I couls start seeing tracks from my NAS store collection
I'll play more today and share my findings
Aussie Michael: Would the moment pick up music files stored on an Apple Time Capsule? Or not because it's not a music server?
No it wouldn't, you need a DLNA source and the Time Capsule is not much than a network attached drive
Noticed that the title of songs from my collection has FLAC or M4A at the end of the song title. If its a MP3, no file extension is shown.
Will ask B&O about that.
An interesting one: After several time in moodwheel, playing the same mood, changing the mood in the circle turns your Deezer accounts into a free one, i.e tunes are playing for 30 seconds only .... power off/ power on is required to come back to normal

That happened yesterday when i was playing with it in store. LOL. I said somehow i've turned this in to jukebox mode lol

A perfect store demo then! Hopefully the demo mode will end soon for all Moment users
Hiort:Another strange implementation: If I have e.g Diana Krall in my own collection and add a Diana Krall song as Loved Track I will have two Diana Krall when I browse artists. Klicking one give me the songs in my collection. Klicking the other, the songs saves as loved tracks. Really confusing.

I have two Daft Punk ....:-)
Hiort:I guess Moment is getting the index over my music library from my NAS. Then it matches the artist name towards Gracenote database, to get artwork to display in "artist view". That artwork is not available in the library. I have asked the question if Moment pick also the album artwork from Gracenote. It may be so that Moment checks with Gracenote if there is no albumart in the metadata it receives from the NAS. So, to answer your question: Yes, but Gracenote do not know who you are.

They rushed the product to the market too soon and the functionality/usability is EMBARASSING!Despite my love for B&O products but what kind of CEO decides to gives his ok to a product in a development state? Customers aren't dumb: As more and more people trying this thing out, many of them will simply scratch their head when they read that Bang & Olufsen is telling them s.th. about "perfection" and "easy to use" and... buy another product while still laughing about Bang & Olufsens "nice try". Thanks to Android and Apple devices, nowadays customers are used to EASY and FAST search options for their music, videos, documents etc. What a big mistake to release the unit in this state of development!I'm asking myself if - beside the designers - someone of the "real world people" tried the product and used it before they released it!?Bang & Olufsen is really giving us a hard time... I thought they have learned from the Beosound 5 mistake.
What a pity the Moment has lots of software faults !
I was ready to be an "early adopter" because i really love the product, but i think i should wait for the new software update this summer...

I'm missing MM here...
Chris: I'm missing MM here...
I'm surprised he didn't uncover any of these issues which have been found by people trying it in a store when he had access to his "friends" unit before the official release.
I'm sure he'll find a good reason why none of this is important and you should still buy it anyway!
Ban boring signatures!
my dealer told me to wait till summer befor buying a moment.
he talked about the numerous software problems the moment has, and it took longer than talking about the positiv aspects of the moment. he is not happy at this time.
thats really fair and i will wait for the summer update.
As a new customer to B&O and I'd hope I'm very much in the target consumer group for their products, I find the B&O Moment a terrible product from a software perspective.
I actually like the design and think it would fit in nicely in my living room, but after seeing it in action last week, I won't be parting with my money until the UI is overhauled and massively improved. Anyone in 2015 that thinks this is a good product is stuck in the 90's. Fortunately I can't imagine there are many of these people and the sale numbers will speak for themselves. Sorry for those who have brought it already, you're unfortunately at the bleeding-edge.
I just hope in a couple of months time when the guys in Struer are scratching their heads why their not hitting the numbers, they don't continue to blame "expensive production" or sales issues. The best sales people in the world would struggle with this product. What were they thinking? This product has so much promise and could be a great seller.
I think they need an injection of some new (design) people with new (software) thinking. Don't shoot me down, but I'm thinking the likes of Jonathan Ive. Or me! Hehe

I am not really aware of me trying to tell people, that they should 'buy the Moment anyway' - must be something that you invented

Here we go!
Somewhere along this thread (page 9 - that was very early in the discussion!) I tried to characterize the Moment.
I wrote:
" ....And the concept of this new device is, what one should focus on.
It is the perfect 'music-family-nanny'!
It is a music butler, who always knows, what pleases you - his job is to create the right mood in every situation for you.
Those, who need a nanny/a butler to pick the music for them, will be extremely satisfied with it.
Those, who more actively choose the music they want to listen to, will do better with an iPad and the music app/apps of their own choice coupled with a Playmaker as an audiosystem - I guess.
Should I mention to which of those categories I count myself "
To me it seems that some people have had their own expectations for the Moment (/for a new BeoSound), and that they now have been disappointed from what it actually is/does.
The guys in Struer have done some research on how people nowadays mostly like to use music in their daily life - that is for sure.
The first product that presented the conclusions, that they made, was the BS Essence.
People in general do not want to fiddle with searching for music in a more or less well structured library - period!
They do want to hear the music, they like - at an instant!
They don't want to think too much before the music starts playing.
That is basicly what the Moment is for. The two main features of the device definitely are the Moodwheel and the PatternPlay.
The search function is there, but somewhat diminished (you'd better use the BeoMusic app for that, if you need it).
So - If you have an opposite approach to using/listening to music, you can not avoid being disappointed.
IMO - if B&O had intended to make a different device, they would/could have done so.
But it would not have been very different from a lot of the other solutions on the market, that focus on a (deep) search fuction. Actually a (Android/iOS) app with a nice design (or a 'BeoPad') and a hide-away box would be enough for that kind of concept. But....no magic, no selling!
i can imagine that a lot of the Beoworld readers/writers are like me - they want to have a more dedicated control over, what they are listening to.
Maybe the Moment is not meant for us. Or rather - maybe we will like to use it with MoodWheel/PatternPlay once in a while.
And will have to find our own way of using it with our 'own preferences' - which I think could be possible.
The NL-integration alone makes this device a bit interesting to me!
I would certainly not call the Moment 'an unfinished device' - and I regard the coming multi-room functions more like an upgrade to it (and to the NL-system.
After all there is no other device like that in the world - in a compete NL-setup it will show it's true advantages.
Those, who focus on more dedicated searching for and playing of their files, might be better of with a 'NAS/DLNA-app/Aux-in solution' or a 'Mac-iTunes//Remote-app/Aux-in solution' (to the NL/ML Converter or to an old ML-audiomaster).
This being said - there might be some bugs in the software, and the developers/tester in Struer certainly would be better off following this thread, as people start to use their Moment on a daily basis!!!
Looking forward to more reviews and details.

Very good answer MM.
I'm new to B&O, but I'm an old computer guy. What I'm seeing with the Moment is what we are seeing everywhere else when a device is operated by more more than 100 lines of code (just found stupid bug in iTunes ....). Personally the Moment is the device I was waiting for and for the exact same reasons it was created for, so I'm a happy user even if I discover bugs every day, and the beauty of a bug is that it can be fixed.
That said I understand the frustration of some users when they face issues using a very expensive gadget of a famous brand .... is the grass greener elsewhere?
Bug of the day, to be confirmed: If you bring up the BeoMusic App after you started playing music using the MoodWheel, the music flow stops at the tune playing when BeoApp was turned up, you need to press next on the App for the music to continue.
Mille, I think my dealer would hire you better! I am sure that the cash flow could increase with you as a seller.
if it really is as you suggest, I’m really getting old in listening to my way of music. But I have a hard time to run with the pack and listen to predigested music as brought from preset playlists on per example Deezer, or predigested list from your own files on the DLNA supplier.
What I mean is: I can not choose anymore because a computer chooses for me, he knows my mood and feelings of what I want to hear at that particular moment. Oh come on, it all seems nice but I am an individual and still want to think my way. For those boys in Struer it looks the Moment is not an unfinished device, but finished regarding to playing music. They forgot to ask my opinion, and probably some others also.
I they would implement your words into this device better: “Those, who focus on more dedicated searching for and playing of their files, might be better of with a 'NAS/DLNA-app/Aux-in solution' or a 'Mac-iTunes//Remote-app/Aux-in solution' (to the NL/ML Converter or to an old ML-audiomaster)”. Then the Moment would be a very successful player for all layers of listeners.
I do not want the boys in Struer to determine what I want, a device that knows my feelings is nice as an build-in option to it, but it should not be the main component. I want to be able to listen and direct a component in my way.
Let us indeed look forward to more reviews and details.
'BS Moment - Bug of the day'.
Maybe that could be the title of a new thread
Chris:I do not want the boys in Struer to determine what I want, a device that knows my feelings is nice as an build-in option to it, but it should not be the main component. I want to be able to listen and direct a component in my way.
Beoworld app with direct photo upload and emoticons.
elephant: Any differentiation between the two Diana's or the two Punks ? Eg same album art ? Same names ?
Any differentiation between the two Diana's or the two Punks ?
Eg same album art ? Same names ?
I have a Deezer preferred album from Daft Punk and I have the same album in my collection
Artist name is spelled the same but the Moment shows two different artists with the same name and are the same album behind.
At the begining there was no artist cover for the one in my collection, album covers were both present and ok.
Today there is an Artist cover on both, looks like the Moment does work in the background .....
Not sure yet about the logic behind classifying Artists when they are identified in multiple sources.
Chris: I do not want the boys in Struer to determine what I want, a device that knows my feelings is nice as an build-in option to it, but it should not be the main component. I want to be able to listen and direct a component in my way.
I know how you feel!
Maybe you are just not in the target group for the Moment - or maybe you haven't experienced enough of, what the Moment allows for?
I am not the one to judge that!
I think the only way to explore it, is to have the Moment at home - I'd like to have one myself..... for playing with it, of course
But I must say, that I am a bit surpriced by the reactions of some of the Boworlders.
They seem to focus on their own expectations for a modern BeoSound.
The philosophy behind/the concept of, what B&O presents as a modern audio solution, has been known to the public for over a year now.
At the CES one year ago the BS Essence (controlled by the wheely) was launched as the kind of 'solution, that most people would need for listening to music in 80% of all cases'.
We should perhaps re-view the lauch video from the CES 2014?
I do remember, that (some) Beoworlders focused on the presentation skills of Tue Mantoni.
Maybe that made them overlook, what he was really saying?
The roadmap - to me - was very clear.
http://youtu.be/SGflRi7JCFU
The Moment is a next step on that road - with a much nicer visual interface and including the further development of the 'BeoSound 5 - MOTS-philosophy' = MoodWheel/PatterPlay and more.
I wonder why this discussion did not start earlier - as it was obvious, that a new B&O products would be built on the basis of these thoughts.
I would say: use the Moment as it is for daily, casual purposes, and use the BeoMusic app (on it) for more dedicated listening....
....or don't use it at all.
N.B. I guess the priority in a dealers job should be to present the 'pro's of the Moment'!
A dealer certainly has to be honest and talk about it's 'drawbacks' too - if they are 'drawbacks' for the costumer.
Otherweise he should reject selling the product, and would have to tell B&O, why he don't want it in his shop.
This is how I imagine the setup in my apartment:
1 Beosound Moment in living room
1 Beoplay A9 Mk2 in bedroom
1 Besound Essence Remote on the wall right at the apartment entrance
1 Beosound Essence Table Remote at the night desk in bedroom
Plus: BeoMusic App to choose albums/playlists in more detail
Coming home, opening door, getting in and pressing Essence Remote on the wall to start music. Then, if I am really in very particular mood, I can utilize either the Mood Wheel on Moment or Beosound app on the iPhone. In the evening, while reading I just choose random music in my bedroom via Essence Table Remote. And switch it off with one click. And turn it on in the morning with one click again. Lovely. :)
You are definitely in the target group for a BS Moment
I do think so.
I also went few times through your explanations to some discontent owners, and I believe you are right when you underline that this new concept also kind of pushes for a new consumption style.
That's nothing intrinsically good or bad, just a fact. Still, more "traditional" (in a sense: music collectors, album-only listeners etc) users might feel frustrated by a level of randomness Moment and Essence promote. Which for me is exactly a benefit, because I have no time to actively explore new music on my own - but prefer to be served ideas and then highlight ("favorite") the ones I liked.
But you can simply choose an album or two and let them play, you don't have to let it select the music for you. That is what I have been doing.
tobeyone: But you can simply choose an album or two and let them play, you don't have to let it select the music for you. That is what I have been doing.
Talking about album playing and bug list: Gapless playback is definitively not there, hurting when listening to artists like Pink Floyd. I have escalated to B&O (I'm not the only one I guess)
Raeuber:Last week I had the opportunity to visit a B&O store during holiday in Munich. I asked for a short presentation of the Moment and I told the dealer I would like to listen to 'Rumours from Fleetwood Mac'. I thought the dealer was not very familiar with the Moment because it took so much time to find this album. If I read the experiences of the first owners of this device I believe it was not the ignorance of the dealer but it's faster to go downstairs in my basement to find the CD than to choose it with the Moment. If I search for a specific album with Spotify on my IPad it takes a few seconds. The software of the Moment seems to be a real desaster. I'm a real 'album listener', so I don't want to decide a computer for my music listening. If I go into a restaurant I want to decide what to eat and not the cook. Also if I drive with my car I want to decide where to drive and not the navi of the car. This was a very disappointing experience with the Moment and I wouldn't pick it up for free! Regards Räuber
