Luke: I just never felt connected with the BS5 or Encore, it sat in a corner and looked nice enough but I feel I need to be at hand with digital files more often than I would than using a CD player. I also feel this system is more convenient to use at a party, the BS5 was difficult for guests to use and slow to find songs and tedious regarding playlists. However, this new product I am finding extraordinarily bug ridden. Waiting 10+ minutes for it to wake up and do something kills the moment. And oh my god the fingerprints!

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I appreciate it. I'm definitely interesting in adding a musical component to my B&O, but I'm torn between the new stuff, or go for some of the "older / classic" stuff and integrate it.

@Luke: when you say you are waiting 10' for the Moment to wake up, what do you mean exactely?
Mine is starting reasonably fast at power up, and faster when returning from sleep mode, note that I have BL18 and BL19 to wake up too.
I can play music almost straight away with one exception ..... PatternPlay. I noticed that if I press the PatternPlay straight after returning from sleep or power up, no music is played, If I wait some time (not sure how much yet) between machine coming up and pressing the PatternPlay, then music starts, so it could be the 10' you are mentioning.
A part from that, using it 12h/day without a glitch, I must admit that even with many software bugs (I have already opened 8 tickest with BeoCare) and an underlying logic that I don't understand yet, the Moment is the perfect companion for my speakers and it meets the way I wanted to listen music.
The BeoMusic app is also a very good companion keeping fingerprints out of the JukeBox :-)

10 minutes? It needs only the time necessary to start my V1 and that TV needs time, if I don't let the Moment activate the TV but start at first the V1 with A-MEM, let the picture come on and next activate the Moment I get music within a good minute.
I'm in the process of still trying to get all my playlist and albums on the Moment, so I can't commend on this PatternPlay, its something for later.
There has indeed a great software bug, my Moment is not very well interacting with my Twonky server library on the Mac mini. It takes hours to load the iTunes playlists on the BeoMusic app, and would love to see some iTunes playlist on the Moment to, but for now nothing is showing. Only the Deezer playlist are showing. I'm now checking every album on the Moment, and it seems not all albums are transferred... So I made this my first BeoCare ticket.
Every screen has problems with fingerprints.... My iPads, phones... even the screen of the central heating system.

How many tracks in your iTunes library? I had 31k and the Moment could not digest it, so I have started from a blank one and I'm adding tracks progressively. I've also opened a ticket with BeoCare for this issue as I would like to understand if there are any limitations in case I reset my Moment and until they fix the issue. (I'm using Synology DSM)

Library is 28,5 K songs mixed AIFF and Flac, have another 5K on another disc but have to make the correct Meta on them first.
I never came up to me to load them in parts, thats a good idea. I reseted the Moment several times in three days to factory settings, have been trying with several Twonky server versions but it seems the one, although its not the newest, proposed by B&O is the best (7.2.7). I even changed servers from my mac mini to a windows machine with Windows server 2012. Its damn slow in loading songs...
Did again a complete reset today at 16.00 hours and now it shows more albums, but no playlists from iTunes. I can see now on the BeoMusic all my iTunes playlists but without songs. I take a look in the morning. In the mean time I keep my server busy with replaying one number on it with VLC. Don't want anything go to sleep (except me).
Ok, there are really bugs. I could test the machine for one week at home and then decide if I keep it. Bugs or no bugs, I keep the Moment, because this little machine is sound-wise SO breathtaking with my 24/96 files. They really did it at B&O!
Is the soundquality from the moment better then the beosound 5?

Agreed, we are focusing too much on the software bugs and we are forgetting about the primary goal of acquiring such device: The Sound.
Now The Quest is to find the best recorded albums ever.
This morning I tested the the PatternPlay behavior and it is not really what I'm expecting ... New ticket to Beocare :-)

After 2 weeks of usage, and mainly week end morning play, I was expecting something different than resuming where I stopped the evening before, even one tracks would have be OK, here it looks like I pressed pause :-)

elephant:What expectations were you given ?
I think I was the first customer to purchase the device that the reseller received two days before, he was not really on top of it, so I didn't ask many questions. We will see the answer I receive from BeoCare.
Good surprise this morning, pressing the PatternPlay played a Tunein radio I use to listen over the week end, so the toy is definitively learning my habits.
Has anyone noticed any improvements with updates?
How often are the updates happening?
What sort of updates and changes are being made?
My local shop has ordered in some extra units, as a few of his customers want home demos. With any luck within a couple weeks I'll have one to play with.

Hello. I have some problems due to updating my music library on my Moment. I can select my NAS driver, and it does start to update. When its finish, i can play the inner circle on pattern play (which is my own music) but i don't se the albums or artist on the Jukebox..?
Everything works good on the beomusic app..
Anyone knows what the problem can be?

Too bad Moment's WiFi is limited to 802.11b/g 2.4GHz only.
At home I broadcast only on 802.11n 5GHz as I live in a high rise and signal in 2.4 band is full of dropouts due to interference.
Inexplicable: why do you launch a product limited to 802.11b/g in 2015?
I still want the Moment. :) MkII, obviously. ;)
NB: Apple started to launch 802.11ac products already in 2013.
802.11b/g --> LOL

The easiest way to dodge this potential problem, for now, is to use the higher 5GHz range. Far fewer people are currently using the 5GHz range. This will change as more people switch over to 802.11n, but for now it's the easiest way to use wide channels to increase your effective bandwidth without running into interference. The one downside is that 5GHz has less range than 2.4GHz. With 5Ghz, interference with building structure could be a big issue. Obstructions as cinder block, concrete, metal, and even wood and drywall. They eat electromagnetic fields for breakfast.
Keep in mind that 802.11n, by itself, isn't a silver bullet for your network speed needs. Thanks to older, not quite standard 802.11n hardware, we have two problems. The first is that some older hardware, unless the firmware can be upgraded, won't work at full 802.11n speeds with newer standardized equipment. The other is that you can be almost certain that older APs, switches, or routers from one vendor won't work well with another vendor's equipment. Oh, it may look like it's working, but if you check you'll often find that your Wi-Fi's connection is only running at 802.11g's 54Mbps. The fastest 802.11n is only as fast as its slowest link.
If you and the neighbor’s do some homework, you really can get a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network that will answer your in-house network expansion needs while still providing close to Fast Ethernet's 100Mbps speeds. While it may look like simply adding 802.11n to your network it may look like a cheap and easy way to expand and speed-up your network, it's really not. You still need to plan your network in detail.
The Moment is still using 802.11b/g. When the device connects at 2.4 GHz, it can communicate from further away but might experience interference from other devices in your home, such as a microwave oven, baby monitor, cordless landline phone, or garage door opener. There's the rub, and why if you're doing a serious Wi-Fi set-up you really need to sweat the details--and optimize wireless reception.
Excellent remark - fully agree with you.
I did quite a lot of testing actually, and "n" works fantastic in the end from the perspective of signal consistency. Also, I am extending my "n" network in a corridor to be able to reach to the bedroom (using Apple's Airport Extreme + Airport Express combo).
My expectation from B&O was not to offer only 802.11n and to lock out users with some older pieces of wireless-enabled products, but to merely add 802.11n and give is a very mainstream option in today's market. That wouldn't be too much to expect from the premium brand who at the same time introduced (and successfully, for that matter) another very advanced wireless (WISA) standard.
Finally - new Beoplay A9 MkII supports 802.11n. So why it does make sense there - but not in Moment. I admit I am puzzled and cannot think of one single customer who would complain on 802.11n being included.
My previous post was lost, so I'll do it shorter this time. :)
I did all different tests in my appartment and 802.11n actually works like a charm in an Apple Airport Extreme + Airport Express combo (Express used to extend the network wirelessly to the bedroom).
Comment I made was based on the fact Beoplay A9 MkII has 802.11n support built in. Now why would that make sense, but for Moment suddenly it won't? ;)
That is a good question - that ought to be answered officially.

A very good view...
You could indeed say: This is a joke, no 802.11n support on this device? Only B&O could point out why they not used N-technology, and its indeed a bit of a missed opportunity. But this does not stop me from having some theories.
A) Let’s not forget that the Moment is intended for Network link, and B&O is advocating for their NL products to use a separate Network from the Ethernet Network inside the house. I can understand this because many problems in households are due to the infrastructure delivery quality. Knowing that there is also no huge traffic passing on this separate network, the 802.11g technology is more than sufficient.
B) Should it not be a case of using this particular tablet they build into the Jukebox. If using a tablet with MIMO technology they have to put more antenna’s (2) into the tablet which take up space and the smaller the device the less antennas they can fit.
C) Many households have enjoyed networks set up with older 802.11g/b Wi-Fi gear. Why do I need a 300 Mbps router?? Why do I need to invest again plus 100euro?? If it works why invest the money?? I suspect most will continue using the 802.11g standard until it run into limitations.
I embrace the new technology’s. In the coming years, the latest and greatest consumer devices will only be as good as the wireless technologies they’re built on and the standards that they support. To enable seamless Internet searching, HD viewing and wireless gaming, retrofitting the digital home with superior wireless solutions is a critical step for a superior mobile experience, let’s step up now to 802.11ac!!

Sound heart is also hard wired, I won't do the effort to connect it wireless but as you can see in the picture file its not needed to have a faster connection. It's only having a throughput rate of 333,2 Kb/s in playing Flac files from the Mac mini.
A bit of technical talk. The NIC from the Soundheart seems to be from Texas Instruments, I suppose they use the DP83848 who is a very popular transceiver at 10/100 Mb/s. Here: http://www.ti.com/product/dp83848c
Jukebox Android's tablet is using a wireless module by Universal Global Scientific, here: http://www.usish.com/english/products_wifi.php

Hi Chris,
I have saw that you have good skills both on network and BeoSound Moment.
So, may be you are open to help me. If the hub and the jukebox of my BeoSound Moment are both connected to my WiFi, they works fine (sometimes the jukebox loses the connection but it can reconnect after a few seconds). On the other hand if the hub is wired (directly to my modem) sometimes the jukebox find the hub, sometimes not. In this case I have to reconnect the hub in WiFi.
The problem is the same whatever the network configuration of the BeoSoind Moment (hub is in DHCP mode or with a fix IP for the hub and the jukebox).
Do you have any idea to solve this problem.
Thanks.
Pat.

Strange,
I have the Moment hub/Soundheart connected over wire to my cable modem. Its set with static IP. I have never had problems with the connection between the hub and the Jukebox. Potentially the Jukebox need to be replace.
