Hi Guys

My BM5500 has suddenly no sound out on right channel while playing phono, (BG5500). on tuner it is ok.

i took the cabinet apart looking for obvious defects and found the cooling fan not running. on the cooling fan pcb there is TR4 which is loose in the soldering and pcb is quite black underneath TR3 and TR4.

Could this be part of my problem?

any input would be appreciated!

Hi,

probably the phono cartridge is broken. For a test it might be ok to use a different input. Just start manually playback and adjust volume to high, with the selected input. When you hear only one channel as well, then it's the cartridge, otherwise it's the phono-preamp. Cold solder joints at the sockets etc.

Btw you should resolder the board of the fan and look for leaked caps.

cheers

Chris
