There is a tv - and there is a BV
Interresting as ever, but still figuring out what the purpose of this calculating is....
Which one sounds best then?
Minuscat: Which one sounds best then?
Try them all! And get back to us when you're done, sometime in the 22nd century.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Wonderful idea why didnt i think of thatMy couch pillows are goat naturel - any experience as to the best setting to account for?
Seriously, a calculation like the above cant be taken seriously seriously, can it?
@Beobuddy and Minuscat
On page three this question came up.
So what is it for?
Really nothing!
And then again, it is interesting (and important) to know, what the new (audio) engine is capable of - which flexibility you have to make just the right settings for your own setup.
I did find it quite witty - you obviously not.
I liked it!

Rather otiose but hey, he was probably just bored.
No two 'cats' have the same sense of humour!
Beobuddy: Interresting as ever, but still figuring out what the purpose of this calculating is....
There is absolutely no practical purpose whatsoever. Someone asked, and it piqued my curiosity, so I was consequently piqued.
Cheers

Hi Geoff,
Whilst I agree with working through the calculations for the sake of pure mathematical interest, I would suggest that in this case there is a practical purpose, albeit an unintended one. To me, this shows clearly the improvement in audio processing of the new generation of video products when compared to Beovision 7, or even Beovision 10.
The challenge for the rest of us is to find new practical ways to make use of the extra sound options that Geoff and his team have given us!
One simple suggestion: Add headphones to BV11, Avant or V1 via an RJ45 to minijack cable and set the appropriate Powerlink output to "Stereo Downmix" on its own speaker group. You can now switch between TV Speakers and Headphones by simply changing speaker groups.
Another idea: Multi-way active or passive speakers, each driven by separate power amplifiers, via the TV Powerlink outputs. The position and role of each speaker driver can be easily set via the options in the TV Sound menu.
Or another: Set one Powerlink output to "Fixed Line" for a simple interface with an existing Beosound (or even to a Sonos Connect) to share the TV audio around the house without needing an NL/ML Converter.
Any other ideas from the forum? What would Beoworlders like the audio outputs of their V1/BV11/Avant to be able to do?
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

How about a setting for playing the sound upside down?
Oh dear what are our audiophile friends to do with all those sound settings?
I mean the ones that still cling on - the ones that werent scared away by loudness years ago - the ones preferring
to downmix everything to gray because it looks better on specs papers - the ones expecting true natural sound from
different sized vibrating cardboard funnels
I understand that for them there is only one correct output so im sure theyd want to bypass all the Mickey Mouse and expensive stuff
Is there a button or setting for them as well?
Well, any old turn-a-knob analogue receiver actually has an infinite number of settings, so there
Geoff, you should've been here when we were arguing over the odds of winning in the prize draw!

The so-called 'Minuscat button'

Please do not tease Geoff - he might take up the challenge
Minuscat:Oh dear what are our audiophile friends to do with all those sound settings?
Answer #1: No one is forced to play with the Sound Mode parameters. Just leave the TV in "Adaptive" and never turn to the Dark Side...
Answer #2: "audiophile friends" - doesn't that go in the pile with "military intelligence", "jumbo shrimp", "business ethics", and "Microsoft Works"?
