Hi,
does anybody know, why the price for Beoplay A9 has been lowered from 2000€ down to 1700€? This apllies for most german online shops selling beoplay.
Any hints regarding a follower product or new products in that range?
Best regards
IOS 8 will introduce a new airplay feature, you dont have to connect via wifi network.
I dont know if that requires new hardware or not. All non apple airplay implementations are still using 2.4 ghz wifi which is old, thats why I skipped the essence.
It could be that there is an updated version with a more modern chipset is around the corner.
I have bought him already more than 1 year ago for 1,600.00€. I am very contented with it. He is beaconed by an Olive One in my Apartment on Majorca.

You might be right on this.
The new AirPlay Direct (if it will be called so, I don't know) function, will require new chips - or at least reprogrammed chips (and probably a licencing fee).
There is (as far as I know) nothing out on this yet - or if B&O is going to implement this in new versions of the recent products.
But, if so, it might be a reason for a price-drop on the A9.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Ahh,
o.k and thanx for the insight!

The updated Airplay will use bluetooth. I think it is only between iDevices. Its the same technology used for Airdrop in iOS7.
One use case is that you at an office can have an apple TV and use it to simply put presentations on the screen, without the presenter being logged in to the office network.

In general we know too little about how an upgraded version of AirPlay will work, and what will be the benefits for audio.
It is true, that AirDrop use Bluetooth - but only to establish the connection. The data transfer is via WiFi (peer to peer).
I guess that AirPlay Direct (if it will be called so) will work similar, but with a direct WiFi connection between the devices.
Hopefully we will know more after the next Apple Keynote.

Would be nice to be able to AirPlay - lossless - audio to an upgraded A9 without the need for logging in to a WiFi network.
The new airplay doenst require bluetooth, it may support it, it should just work like airdrop works over wifi.
For those with the older equipment, this is really no huge deal. If you wnat that feature you can always buy an airport express and connect that and your all set.
Also, we are just speculating. There is very little information available how the beefed up Airplay in IOS 8 will work, also for most use cases there is really no huge benefit for existing users. Somehow you connect to your B&O device today, that will keep working going forward.
What I am after is 5ghz wifi and multi room and what not and am hoping new chipset/product updates will give me that
