The charge on my Beo5 is very poor and doesn't last very long before having to recharge again.

Any ideas how to change? Is it an easy fix? Does anyone know which battery is used in the machine?

Chris, probably I need to change my batteries as well (Beo 5 and 6) since it has not been used for several years.

Will post pictures of that. A guy I met today who has been working for B&O for 27 years explained me how to do that.

I'm interested too - where do you get the new battery from?

best regards, Elmar

Can I suggest you review the WiKi section of the forum HERE about battery replacements

As soon as I have the batteries. Batteries purchased from an ex B&O dealer. Will post pictures here on this thread.

Thank you very much. How much did he charge you for the batteries?

Still have to open mine (first time). So you managed to open it, what's your concern about the flatcable?

I had a feeling it was going to be a nightmare to put the flat/ribbon cable back into its connector.

I am still wondering on where to buy a battery. £35 at my local shop

My B&O store wanted €49,- plus VAT for just the replacement battery. This price is completely out of whack. Started googling and found a replacement battery in a German battery shop. €8,75 plus about €4,- shipping was more like it. Resoldering the original B&O cable was a piece of cake. Put the battery back in an all works again. So, if you're not afraid of a bit of simple soldering (which probably aren't since you already started disassembling your beo5 Big Smile) then get the battery pack from China....

B&O prices are a rip-off. The individual cells are less than €1 each when bought in volumes. After my local B&O dealer quoted €49,- + VAT I started checking the net. Found a readily soldered pack at this German battery retailer (http://www.akkushop.de/de/accucell-2hhr140-akku-passend-fuer-rasierer-24-volt-1400mah/). It even has a little more capacity than the original B&O batteries. Incl shipping it set me back €12,75 - quite a difference to B&O's prices.

It requires some light level of soldering, obviously. As the B&O cable needs to come off the original battery and needs to be soldered to the new one. Pretty simple, though, if you're ok with soldering - which you probably are, since you're not afraid to disassemble a Beo 5 :-P

cheers

Don't mention the word "rip off" or "crap" here on this forum Torsten. Some of them get really upset using that word.

But your right....

Ok. So, if anyone feels offended, please exchange the r-word with "excessively expensive".

cheers

Chris Harrison:

There are two types of keypad, the old type which I expect you have where you have to push the cable quite hard to get it into the socket without damaging the ribbon cable. The new type has a white hinged clamp so you can slide the cable in with zero force and then press the clamp down which makes it nice and easy.
