I did and he noticed the same on the remote in store and was going to talk with B&O but I havent heard anything after that. It annoys me that it is sharp because I scar myself because of it sometimes too and it´s not nice to scratch your danish furniture either. I´m just happy I don't have small children.

This was a cool remote Ruwido showed;
Voice control. Extremely slim. (Notice the Avant in the background) Learned the B&O commands in a jiffy.
Obviously very lightweight. In aluminium.
Induction charging. Charging base cordless. Driven by batteries that will last 2 years.

Simonbeo: Are they going to radius the sharp corners soon though ? it seems like they were computer modeled without a prove-out for tactility ?

The ones that Ruwido showed me was smooth. No issues there.
I like the small box they hid the cable sock in behind the Avant! And regarding the smoothness of the remote, the only sharp edges are at the front. Both top corners and bottom.

Agree. The box made the cabling very neat. They had that on all the Avants on display.
By the way. Ruwido do the knob to the Essence as well.

Certainly is cool ! I like the voice operation - noting the dot of the mic in the top left corner

This is news for me. Never experienced any sharp edges (except the hole for battery change). Tested it just by playing around with it in my hands. The only thing I sense is the top corners on the front. They could be could sharp, but not razor sharp. I also tested this corners on the wood table, no scratches. To make a scratch I would have to press hard.

When I got my first Avant in May, the top of the remote and the hole in the back was razor sharp. I got a replacement Avant in July because of the various hardware issue with that first batch. The new remote I received with it is definitely not as sharp. It seems they smoothed the edges a bit since that first batch.

Oh wow, that's terrible. Why wouldn't they replace it? Why were you asking for a replacement?
If I remember correctly you were from the first batch with me. I sent mine back due to speakers getting caught, loads of fogging and dirt beneath screen and noisy stand.

And the remote is to sharp at the edges. Had my set since they began shipping so also first batch. A really bad experience from a customer point of view. My speaker bar works good so not as bad as your kit.

I was told over a month ago mine Avant is on a list for replacement (dark spots under the glass). They should contact me when its time, but nothing heard yet. Same batch as yours in May, but no problems except the dark spots.

What problems did your Avant have?
I'm sure you can place orders for Beoremote One, but you won't get one until February 2015 in the UK - I don't see any other country getting preferential treatment over the 2nd largest B&O market in the world..?

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
There wasn't an official launch date for Beoremote one that I am aware of....
I saw a BeoRemote One in a dealer today. It was on the desk next to a Beo4.
The BeoRemote One looked much older than the Beo4. I am not talking design here... but the Beo4 was already damaged. The aluminium was dented in may places, and it looked all greasy. I really wanted one, but I'll wait a bit...

This link says discontinued. Received an email that also said it was discontinued with a link to Beo 4 as an alternative. I assume this means just the "engraved" version is discontinued. I did not realize there were two versions, engraved and not engraved?

I think it just means "This item is no longer available from our website." (as it says just after "Discontinued"),
Probably because B&O won't give them individual remotes without an Avant.
The engraving surely is not the 'bottleneck'.
The engravings are done in between all other laser-engravings in Struer.
The bottleneck is the production of the casing.
By now they must have gotten the third roboter, which (like the other two) will work 24/7 on the aluminium casing.
So I would think, that they should be on sale solo soon (november).

Finally,
Just received an email from my dealer, expecting tomorrow 3 pieces and 1 silk (?) piece.
Hé,hé
"Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see, let your ears tell you the truth."
My guess is, that it will be free to buy, when the BV11/V1/BSsys4 will be updated for using it (the three 'my buttons').
I have a silky one since last Saturday to operate my BV11 and BS9000. On top of that, I also operate two LC2, an STB and Apple TV and a Sonos. While I like the size and weight over the Beo 4, it's certainly more complicated to use.
With the Beo 4 you have more buttons to directly operate a lot of gear, with the One you just have the 3 programmable My Buttons. On the BV 11, you need to change the remote menu from Beo 4 to the One and off you go. The Beo 4 continues to work though. Do not know what the menu change exactly triggers.
However, if you want to operate the BV 11 or the BS9000, you have to switch between Beovision mode and Beo 4 Audio mode. That is a bit cumbersome. Havent't been able to figure out yet, how to put the BS9000 on the music button while in Beovision mode. Probably not possible. If you press the music button while in Beovision mode, the BV11 will be switched on in radio mode instead of the BS9000.
Above all, still like the One. There is a learning curve and a little change management involved. Would like to have 6 MyButtons, that would greatly improve the handling.
'6 Mybuttons'!
Who can remember what they are assigned to - certainly not my wife
yes, you are probably correct. Three somehow seems too few. Maybe 2-3 more dedicated buttons would be better, but then again, which ones? Well, I will certainly keep the Beo4 and use it along with the One. I have the Beo 4 in the entrance area and the One in the living room.
The "My buttons" are no good. To easy to store new settings be mistake, and with two children in the house that happens al the time.
SHMBO doesn't like the new remote. She miss Beo4 as it was easier to handle.
I like it though, but it feels a little more plastic and not so rock solid as Beolink 1000 (my favourite) and Beo4.
Oh no, I can only imagine the MyButtons with kids :-)) You are definitely better off with the Beo4 or the Beolink 1000. I have and like the 1000, too. I have two Beo 4, one which is 13 years old and rock solid. The newer one is only one year old and I hate the quality. The battery compartment door is a little loose and always moving every time I take it in my hands.
This cannot happen with the One, however, I wonder if the inserted operating part may come loose over time.

Maybe the largest B&O market will get preferential treatment over the UK?

elephant:@Schatzoy What's different about the "silky"?
The finish is matte, the colour is brighter, the pictures further up on this page quite accurately show the color of the silky RemoteOne. The surface has been blasted (not sand, I think plastic pellets). When you touch it, the surface feels smoother than that of the regular one, i.e. the fingers slip more easily across the surface. And the biggest plus: no finger prints and the aluminum does not look as "scratchy".
Wait, is that Avant on without the speaker bar down? I want to be able to do that! :)
