I am way behind the times and new to surround sound set-ups, so looking for your recommendation and feedback for rear speakers. I am not sure what characteristic of speaker is needed, that would make sense for 5.1 set up, but also could be used for music. My current set-up is BV11-55 ad BL-1s. I have been toying with BL-20s up front, and using BL1 as rears; BL12-3 or !2-2 as rears; BL14; BL17; and adding BL19. Are the new WISA speakers a replacement for 12-2, 12-3 and BL14? Do I need a BL19?
All opinions, recommendations welcome...

If you're looking to get the best solution for the least outlay.. forget acoustic lenses and utilise what you've got.
Keep your BeoLab 1's and buy a BeoLab 2. You've now got the bottom end covered and the BeoLab 1's will give you all the top and mid you'll ever need.
Rear speakers...
In my own personal opinion rear speakers only ever tend to handle echoes, ambient noise and the odd bit of background speech. I think spending too much on surround speakers is a waste of money.
Therefore, 8000's if you like - but 6000's will do it.

If budget is of no consequence, get the 20's at the front and pop some BeoLab 3's at the back. You won't need a subwoofer really. The sound will be crisp, the bass will be precise.
If you want to upgrade and have a mid-level budget - I'd buy some BeoLab 9 for the front and put some BeoLab 3's at the back. Four acoustic lenses all singing in tune sound wonderful. The BeoLab 9's are now looking great value used and they're overlooked way too much these days.

Only my personal opinion, but I'll put it out there that it's a fairly informed one!
However, we're all different, all hear differently - and all have different acoustic taste...

agree with Lee.
I have BL1 in front w/ BL2 and used to have them also as rears. They are now used elsewhere and some used BL3 on floor stands make a lovely addition as rears. I once tested also BL 6000, however through the acoustic lens, the BL3 have a bit more "mid range".

And - if possible - best try things out at home.

Of course I know of that, but in the original posting rxcohen was asking: "that would make sense for 5.1 set up,".
So a 7.1 setup (with rear speakers and surround speakers) was not in the game in this case.
Btw - in the B&O userguides the term 'backs' is used for what you call 'rears'.
"You must select the surround speakers before you can select the back speakers."
Thank you all for the feedback...I will pop into a store and check the BL19. I am glad to hear it is a good match for the BL1, which are still great but has always missed the bass. As for the surround I may look at the BL17 later. The wireless capability would be attractive as otherwise in my current room I would be looking at running 9m of cabling on one side. The price though seems a bit steep for the purpose, but will see.
Anyone try the transmitter 1 ? From reading the guide it calls for line of sight. I would prefer to have it behind the BV11-55 hidden.
I highly recommend using the 1s a s rears. I used my 1s as rears with 9s in front and the sound was amazing. Due to decorating decisions the 1s are now fronts in another room with matching 6000s as rears. I very much miss them as rears with my 9s. The height and sound of them are great for use as rears. If I could change my 1s to white, they would immediately return as rears with my 9s.

Thanks for the feedback Razlaw. I was at B&O today and listened to BL3, BL17, BL18 with/without BL19, BL20 and BL5. I was really surprised with the BL17 + BL19 combination. BL19 made a huge difference. I did not hear a substantial difference between the BL17+BL19 and BL18+BL19. but maybe I need a second listen as there should be. I then compared the BL20 and BL5...and BL20 sounded somewhat muted in comparison. I really cannot recall the BL9 sound, but for music BL5 is superb.
I am somewhat space constraint so probably the BL19 would be a good start. But i am salivating for the BL5s...perhaps eventually.
