Hi, I have just recently purchased a beautiful BC9500 it came CX100 speakers, anyway my problem is that it will not pick up any radio stations FM or AM, before I bought it the guy gave me a demo to show everything worked when it came to the radio he put a cable into a socket in the rear and scanned for radio stations it picked one so I was happy that it worked. But when I brought it home and set it up I did the same and no stations were picked up. Am I doing something wrong as I am a complete novice to this. Please help.
It sounds like you simply need a decent FM antenna (aerial) to be plugged into the back of the Beocenter. Do other FM radios get a good reception in your house, in which case select the same frequency on the Beocenter.
Do you have the instruction manual - that would probably help?
I am in a bit of a black spot for picking up signals but all my other radios from cheapest to middle of the road can pick up signals, so I assumed that the BC would have no problems. Is there a decent FM antenna recommend for B&O. No I did not get a manual with it but will try to locate one asap. Thanks for you reply very much appreciated.
If there is a good enough signal for the other radios then any cheap FM ribbon antenna should be fine. You sometimes have to play around with the positioning of the ribbon to get the best reception, which is why you should tune the receiver to a known FM frequency first.
If the signal is weak, then an external antenna, or one in the loft, would be better.
I should have said 'welcome to Beoworld' in my original reply! I have a BC9500 and it has given me many years of great service - any problems are usually relatively easy to fix with advice from this forum!
I forgot to say - if you join as a silver member then you can download the manuals for free from Beoworld - there's a full user and service manual for the 9500 available.
A well known issue which BC9500 has with scanning failures. One of the things you always needs to check and I mean the whole scanning procedure. If your looking for a donor pcb let me know. You need to have skills though to replace.

Hi Guy, thanks for the welcome and your help. Was there an original FM antenna that came with the BC9500. I am trying to build a truely original system.
I am sure I will be on here again looking for help/information as this is the start of my adventure/love affair with B&O. I will be looking to add to my BC9500 with the Beogram 9500 so if anyone out there has one I would be interested. (or in fact idea's on additions to the system. I am currently in the process of purchasing a Beo4 remote as a starter remote.
And yes I will be becoming a silver member.

I just tried this trick on my BS 9000, which might work for you. Tune your BC to a known strong station frequency in your area. Put your finger over/into the FM antenna input connector. To an extent it should use you as an antenna. Any change in the sound? Try a bent wire coat hanger as well.
(I'm glowing in the dark at the moment, but I'll assume that will fade with time..)

I don't know if it was originally supplied but there is a small u-shaped notch in the rear centre of the 9500 where I think you could attach the 'rabbit ears' v-shaped antenna - this seems to go for ridiculous prices on eBay etc. I would stick with an external antenna for the best radio reception.

In slower time you may wish to look for the BL5000 remote in order to make the most of the BC9500's two-way IR system. This would also enable you to program the timer to wake you at different times on different days of the week.
