I have just got me a Beogram 2000 (seventies model) for free, because it was not working. The arm won't move. When I opened it i found that the metal rod, shown on the picture below, had come loose.
I can not figure out where it should be attatched. Can somebody please help?
Thanks in advance.
You cant see it in the pic, I think the U formed end is connected under the base plate for the cam gear, there are 2 of these rods, one goes from the speed selector to a pawl, which commands the 33/45 set down point, the other goes to the tonearm mech. and moves the tonearm to the 33/45 point.
Here the tonearm mechanism where the rod is connected, did not find a pic of the other end, but it goes somewhere under the base plate for the cam gear
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Thanks for the reply. I will try to look under the baseplate. It is not even shown in the service manual, where this U formed end is attached.
Actually - the metal rod I am talking about goes from the 'LIFT' button to the center mechanism. There is a switch (the Brown box under the White plastic arm) where I think this rod must be connected to. I simply can just not see where and how it should be attached.
I tried to open my Beogram 1203, as I thought it was identical. But it is not. On the 1203 the metal rod is not there - the switch is placed under the 'LIFT' button instead. Seems like they updated the mechanism. I don't know which one is the latest - but the one on my BG 2000 is not in any service manuals.
I'll post a few pics later.
Here from my 1202, lower right corner, blue arrow, the rod from the 33/45 selector, goes to a pawl which commands the 33/45 set down points, the pawl rest on the 2 set down point adjustment screws, the other rod goes from somewhere there to the tonearm mech. But as you see, the 1202 is different from your 2000
Thank you for the Picture, Søren. Your 1202 looks more like my 1203
-which is shown here; (LIFT button in upper left corner)
-and here is the BG 2000:
I really can't see where the U-shaped end of the rod should be attached... It would be nice if somebody had a picture of a 2000 in working condition.
As I wrote, it is not in the service manual for the 1203/2000. So at some times they must have made this change. From what i have read here on Beoworld it would not be the first time B&O had made changes, without updating the service manual ;-)- or maybe there IS another service manual, which is not in Beoworlds library..?
This question did not get answered. For the reference: it goes into the square slot in the white lever. https
