HI Folks,

Thanks to those who responded to my enquiry yesterday.

It inspired me to take the old boy (Beogram 8000) to another B&O repairer, who's first thought was the tacho film on the base of the Turntable. Guess what it is starting to come apart....

Apparently B&O did a stainless steel replacement at one stage. Does anyone have a clue where I may be able to acquire one of these or a reproduction film version ?

Also any clues to the Palisander Veneer on the side?

Thanks folks

Stephen

Ah yes, I forgot about that plastic tacho disc on the BG8000 in my reply yesterday. I should have remembered because I bought a replacement (metal) from Martin a while back.

He can source you a metal replacement tachodisc.

As for the veneer, I haven't done any of the turntables but I did repair veneer on a Beovox S120.2 speaker set recently. I searched and found someone on Ebay that was selling Brazilian Rosewood veneers and used that for my speaker cabinet repair. I would think the same could be done for the turntable but some other Beoworld members may have some better solutions.

Just to give one thumbs up for the reproduction from Martin Dillen.

My white Beogram 6006 is still using one since 2008 and sounds wonderful with a MMC20CL.

Is that ebay link still up? If could you share the vendor?...I have been trying to find some decent rosewood veneer for some time now, but with only partial success...Thanks!

I get mine from here

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Hi Rudy,

I just entered "rosewood veneer" on the Ebay site and get quite a number of results. One is a place called vintage veneer. There are quite a number of sellers and with varying sizes for sale.

Some of those sellers on Ebay look like they specialize in veneers so, depending on how much you need, they should be able to find some veneers that go well together. I would send them a private message and ask about their stock and tell them what you are looking for. Even though, most of the time I just buy right from an Ebay auction, I have run into some good sellers that I just buy from directly. In your attempts to locate rosewood veneer so far, are there any wood shops near you to find out what they can get? Maybe a carpentry shop (has some good sources)?
