Marcello:

With regards to the stand, there was a comment about it being too small in comparison to the 85" screen.

I think this is due to B&O's choice to use the same stand for all sizes. I think they should have used stands proportionally sized for each BV. For me, the huge size of the 55" stand is what prevented the purchase.

The Avant 55 stand is approx. 60 kg compared to 110 kg for the Avant 85 stand. When I replaced the 7-55 floor stand with the Avant 55's, I found them to be fairly identical visually - but the Avant 55 stand being more elegant standing on just one pole. Sorry to hear that you found it to be so huge that it prevented the purchase, because it is such a magical experience to watch it turn and swivel to our pre-set 80+ degrees angle.

The weight almost doubled for the stand for 85'' vs 55''! I'm convinced it's the combined weight of TV and stand that stops the 85'er from having a table stand (too heavy for a table) rather then TV too heavy for the stand.

I love the floor stand. I had decided to go for a clean wall mount with no visible cables (hole in the wall behind TV), but the magic opening movements of stand and speaker changed mine (and SHMBO) opinion.

At least it would fit. I do not really feel a need for a 85" screen but it would be fun!

I know, it is magical indeed. Sadly we cannot put it where the BV10 (easel stand) is currently located, the stand is simply too prominent.

So it's just a matter of finding an alternate location for the new TV. Unfortunately this requires some additional in-wall wiring and moving furniture around. Easier said than done considering that the latter requires approval from the house Chief Decoration Officer :)

I feel that way too.. Miss them every time I see that picture.

The BL9 sounds better and looks good but not the elegance of the BL8000. The BL8000´s now stand in the back of the room where they look much less magical unfortunately.

One thing that I don't like about BL9 is the light in the treble speaker. When I am seated it looks like two lights in each speaker because the speaker element protrude up and it glows to bright. Almost making me consider modifying them or getting a pair of BL20.

A good thing about having the BL8000 by the sofa is that I have a speaker group that only sends stereo to them so I can listen to music or watch movies at night without disturbing the neighbors and still get good sound. It works great and they sound very good up close.

Oh how I love the design of BL8k and BS9000. Just throw this monstrous Avant out of the window and replace it by a Beovision 7/9/10/11 and you'll get a perfect living room!

The elegance of the 8000's, merely enhances my dislike for the Avant's speaker.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

The BS9000 now stands upstairs waiting to be sold or used elsewhere. It is unusable now when I don't have ML anymore. And I don't want an old TV. I like the design of the Avant. I do like the design of BV11 and BV7 also but Im very happy with the Avant.

I quite like the Avant speakers and the grille has now become a thing I really like. I guess you have to live with it to understand.
