I would quite like to see the speaker boys turned loose on a proper set of headphones - nothing outrageous, just something to to compete at the HD600/650 level - I consider these serious headphones without drifting into serious money.
I don't need them to be white, or shiny.............they don't need to impress any onlookers, just me wearing them. Style is good, but not as the expense of performance or comfort. I don't want them targeted at iPods or mp3's. I'd like outstanding performance with CD's/lossless digital without having to resort to expensive external/separate headphone amps.
I would expect these to sell under the B&O moniker rather than BeoPlay.
However I'd expect that they'd sell a lot more booming bass, gawdy headsets to the ipod generation through apple stores - I know what I expect first!
Ban boring signatures!
The 200€ headphone market seems to be THE place to be now for a good quality headphone :
Focal released the outstanding Spirit One (200€) : audiophile quality, just a bit poor in material/finish (and high outside noise insulation+high pressure on the ears) :http://www.focal.com/en/headphones/spirit-one.php
Then Philips released an other outstanding headphone : the Fidelio L1 (250€) : not as good sonically as the Spirit one, but close, with a perfect construction/ high quality materials. I only find it a bit poor in external noise insulation, and don't like the jack plug on the cable :http://www.philips.fr/c/Fidelio/fidelio-l1_00/prd/
Now B&W is answering with the P3. I only hope that it will be better as the P5 in terms of acoustic, because it was a big deception... 200€, coming in june :http://www.bowers-wilkins.fr/Casques/Casques/P3/decouvrir.html
B&O needs to have something in this market, it's selling like hot cakes, the Form 2 is not in the same league. Easy money for B&O, sexier gadget than the Form 2 for customers!
Other gadgets I'm waiting for :- BS5 / BS5E iPad app that will give a totally different access to music than with the BS5 or Beo6.- The circular controller- The "BeoNet to masterlink" box to connect old systems to new BeoNet products- Beovision line updated with V1 chassis

Another bugbear of mine - I've never gotten on with the BS5 or Encore. What I'd always envisaged was a mashup of the BS5 and the old fashioned MCP, something that I could carry from chair to chair that gave me total mastery over my music collection. It shows full screen covers, makes navigation a breeze but has a "tactability" that makes it hard to put down. I'm happy for B&O to come with a control/navigation system that isn't touchscreen that makes it easier to play music - it doesn't have to run apps or play Angry Birds - just be the best music controller out there!
The problem is that this is an iPad.

Peter: The problem is that this is an iPad.
Is a touch screen the best way to navigate your audio collection? - B&O thought not with the BS5 wheels. If the ultimate new "MCP" is the iPad then fine, but I'd like to see B&O's take on it with the premise that it is an untethered audio controller rather than tethered with a multitude of cables.
If a tablet is the ultimate solution then I'd make sure I covered IOS and Android!

I'm with Peter on the iPad even though I loved the MCP at the time - never owned the 6500 variant so I am not quite sure of its wheel's efficacy
I don't play games on the iPad, with the exception of slow paced intellectual puzzles like Trainyard and SpellTower (which is fast paced when Sue and go head to head using our blue toothed iPhones in coffee shops ) BUT I do like to be able to enter search parameters, and to branch out from a song and do research (what was happening in 193 on the music scene) and purchases (where is that missing recording)
So I find the iPad quite relaxing .... when I can prise it from Sue's fingers
BeoNut since '75

Hey, if an app on a tablet is the ultimate solution then I'm OK with that - but do B&O have a better solution for a new MCP or at least do they have a better app for audio control than apple (with a small "a"). Also, now that they have the V1 with dnla compatibility don't limit yourself to IOS, make sure you also have an equivalent Android app or if not an MCP then your own tablet!
Don't end up an Apple accessory supplier!!!!
All will be revealed during the Beoworld Struer trip May 2012.
I'm betting it will be the the high end speaker ?
Dream on i'm afraid. I have always thought this would be the ideal one stop media solution, for music and video. I'm always told it's impossible/takes up too much memory etc.
So i bought a £1,500 and just do it that way!
Form 3's like the new Bowers and Wilkins headphones(P3's?), upgraded A8's, A V1 in a Beovision 6 body, Beovision 10-46 with an internal Blu Ray player instead of the HD module, 50% discount for all Beoworlders
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Chris Townsend:50% discount for all Beoworlders
how about 100% for the moderators :-)

B&O could prevent this by getting back into the turntable and cartridge making business.
I know, I know. Two chances: none and none.

Beo4 'til I die!

Well said, Puncher - I agree totally
Since buying the BeoSound 5, I use it every day and certainly welcome an iOS interface. I have the Beo6 but am unimpressed with it as an interface to the BeoSound 5. The great thing about an iPad interface is that there could be multiple options of interfaces to suit the preferences of the individual user. For example, one type of interface could be a touch screen that is exactly like that of the BeoSound 5 screen, complete with flick control of your finger. In addition to that, there could be search functionality and editing functionality that is not present on the BeoSound 5 screen. I think it's also conceivable that an iPad app could extend control to other B&O products that are connected in the MasterLink system.
I'm also interested to see what the B&O link room control device will be. I was hoping that the BeoSound 5 Encore in a link room could extend control of the BeoSound 5 (with BeoMaster 5) that is in the main room. However, that is not the case. The Encore can only access the music from the source and play it in the link room independently of what is playing in the main room.
At any rate, one can buy multiple iPads each for less than the cost of a Beo6. Even for the Apple haters out there, it's worth it to buy an iPad even to use just as a B&O remote. If someone wants to dedicate the iPad just as a B&O remote and not have it cluttered with the other Apple apps, you can just move all other apps to another virtual page and just have the B&O app on the startup page when you turn on the iPad.
