2004 moved into my first house. Central heating broken and needed a new boiler, no furniture, 1980s avocado bathroom suite. Despite sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor as not saved up for a bed and using a garden chair in the lounge as only furniture I made sure my Beolab 5 was paid for, ordered and installed within 2 weeks of moving in. Was a great time of my life, sitting on the floor eating takeaways and listening to music for hours on end after I got back from work.

Reminds me of one of those Steve Jobs stories / urban myths Smile

I hope you are equally successful in your own field !

Nowhere as good a story as yours, however after more than a decade away from B&O my first new purchase was a BeoSound 2 ... using my bonus for 25 years of service - and it kept me sane in the tough years that followed

BeoNut since '75

I would rather say it is the craziness part of a Beovirus growing wild in a good way. At least I am now under control (I think).

Fortunately I was single and only my self during that period with the Beovirus on top priority above all starting of in late 2007 and finally came to a an end around 2011 though 2013 was still the last Beosystem to get but I had to kick myself sometimes.

This meant everything else took a back seat including the single room I had and still no drivers license or car. Walking and public transportation. A job? Sometimes and sometimes not. Education? Life!

Now I was perfectly aware of not being able to collect all B&O I could ever come across but still quite a lot of different products went back and forth. That included spending 8 hours on train rides to Dillen with heavy loads to service and newly done stuff in return. Wonder how this would sound when I get back home.

When my father died I ended up spending a big part of the money on Beolab 8000 and 6000 for the surround experince with my Beovision AV9000. Only to find it not totally me and sold the Beolabs later.

That was how cramped a lifestyle can be. The carpet were never cleaned as no room to get it vacuumed not even once.

I had Beosystem 8000, BG8002 and BC9000 with Beovox M150 standing on a B&O attyca II stand and my pc case. By the bed in the other end I had my white Beosystem 6000 and by the end of 2008 thanks to Dillen yet complete again with sc60 stand in matching white. The manual for the stand came with the units so I believe it to be true.

Then ad Beovox S120 and S80 in matching white. I was looking through the ads every day and S80 came first then S120 came up. What to do? I had put the s80 on hold at seller so Dillen got them for me and renovated both pairs. Ad odds sorts and ends of B&O I came across like BM6000 and Beocord 1900 from a radio station.

Then my LX5500 in the middle and Tama 9 pcs drum kit (9 drums!).

Taken when I moved early 2009 to a much bigger flat in another city after a brief stay with my dad until I could move. The B&O virus contiued on.

Time for a 3rd Beosystem this time a 6500 which I had an eye for but price always a bit to much but this was an auction that had not ended and the price fair. Description was dead speaker outputs. That turned out to be not true only TIMER OUT and that was simple enough to cure but the right channel was bad.

Much later I found a guy online looking for solving speaker outputs on a Beomaster 6500 and ended up with not figuring out TIMER OUT on the display. He might be the former owner I don't know.

Anyway the 6500 ended up with Beogram 6500 and another Beocord 6500 fully serviced by Dillen. At that point I said to myself finally together is this the coolest thing or what? Ah maybe in white and I left it at that. I had seen pictures of 6500 in white but a color change? Really?

No I compromised myself and went on with life but a fair priced Beocenter 9500 near Copenhagen so no news there of to I went and to meeting Dillen in person to take over after the sale.

The next thing I know was rather strange but seller had more and guess what. Yes 6500 in white. full system (4 units) yes! So that was it for the 6500 I had and the next 2 years going back and forth in my mind but finally went for it. Got an Attyca I stand and Dillen to service the system.

So to sum up:

Beosystem 6500

Beosystem 6000

Beosystem 8000 and Beocord 9000

All original white

Odds and ends

Beovox S80, S120, M150

Beovision LX5500, AV9000 Beo4 version

That is how it unfolded so far.

I left som parts out but at the same time I wrote anything in my thread on the Danish hifi forum hifi4all.dk so a lot of was pictured as it happend.

Now kind of special as it is still active with quite a following:

I just got not much relevant to post right now as the Beovirus has settled down somewhat but I still got the odds and ends to do so maybe some day.

Hasten to add I was single and relatively care free but with my first baby, wife and a big mortgage i probably won't be able to throw caution to the B&O wind in such a way ever again. Sigh....

I was actually thinking that buying a pair of bl5 is unreasonable, finally I am sure I will do the best choice. Even my young child will love them. She is 21 months old and she already loves bass.

I hope you still have your bl5.
