Hello all,
New member here. I am glad to be accepted in this forum. My story with B&O began a few weeks ago, when on a local flea market, I found a black Beolit 700 1505, in a somewhat sorry state. The vendor was not able to tell me if it was operational or not, ant let it go for 20 EUR. Cosmetically, some good points, like the antenna which was not broken, and some less good, rusty battery contacts, broken and lost volume and tone control, an overhaul brownish colour, as if it had been either in a kitchen or a smoker's home, although, no old smoke smell came out of it.When I tried it, it made no sound at all. After a while, I realised this device design had the battery plus connected to the ground. This let me better test it. I have disassembled the electronics, and separated it from the cabinet, which I could deal with separately. On the electronics side, I was lucky enough to track down a failing component, one of the BF115 inside the sealed FM front-end. I replaced both transistors with close equivalent BF240 scavenged from a Grundig radio of the same age. And this revitalised the radio, both AM and FM have worked on my workbench. I used worked, because, after I re-assembled the electronics into the cabinet, with two nice redesigned, reprinted Volume and tone control, it does not work any more. Then, I realised I had not re-soldered one wire, a short black wire with a small bit of blue shrinking sleeve around it. It measures 95mm. I seem to remember it was connected to the loudspeaker, that there were 2 black wires soldered together, but I am not sure.So I am here in front of you asking for help. Could someone advice me ?
If it may help someone here is my contribution with the 3D models of the buttons and the bottom plate slides. https://a360.co/39z20dg
One last request, on the mechanical side... I seem to have difficulties with the threading of the tuning index. I understand the principle, it requires 3 turns for a full trip, so when at the middle point, there should be 1,5 turns in each directions. After a few failed attempts, I had to replace the cotton wire. I have measured the old one it seems to measure about 80cm but it needs to be more accurately cut. Again, here I need some help.
I am not going to make money with this radio. I like it, and it's a keeper for me!
So thank you for your attention, and maybe time and help!

I am not sure about the difference between the Beolit 600 and 700, and am not even sure which model exactly is mine. The last button is marked AFC.I noticed that the service manual of Beolit 600 is more detailed on some aspects. For example the length of the tuning three is documented 82cm, as well as the number of turns. So I don't need any help on the mechanical side any more.

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
I have a Beolit 700, because it's the marking on the top plate. As simple as this. I also made some progress : Somehow, once mounted inside the cabinet, the loudspeaker is connected with blue and black wires, that the black wire should also be connected to ground, and it's not ! I tried to connect a wire between the loudspeaker lug and the ground I I do get a loud distorted sound of some FM station. So my issue is half resolved. At the very least I am confident nothing is severely broken.
I'm very envious Henrik! Your work on the car bracket is top-notch 👌.
I've just received my first Beolit 1000, although it's in a bit of a sorry state 🥲 – hopefully I can do something to make it look a bit better despite missing a handle and a few buttons!
Hi MrRoast.
It`s something of a project you`ve got your hands on,unfortunately i do not have my spare part beolit 1000 anymore,if i had it i could have supplied the missing buttons and the handle, but i will keep an eye on one,but they are also hard to find here in Demark.
I would think that if you can find the missing parts it can easily be nice
Here are some pictures of my latest leather beolit 1000
I now have 7 of them 2 leather 2 oak 2 teak and only 1 palisander.
It will probably be hard to find one with nice rosewood panelsand my repairman can no longer buy rio palisander, so getting new veneer on the panels can no longer be done.
Henrik.
Finally i found a palisander beolit 1000.and i thought it is in fair condition and it works as it should.
I will sand the palisander panels and give them some palisander oil
there is a bit of corrosion on some of the buttons and the scaleglass frame, but it is easily fixed
the ends must be painted
the antenna and the logo on the handle are intact
the battery box is also ok
So now i have 2 leather,2 oak,2 teak and 2 palisander beolit 1000.
Now i just need 1 beopower 1000,then i also have 8 of them.
