I don't think this is possible as the iPhone will not communicate with the BeoMaster 5.
You can, of course add an Apple AirPort Express as an aux device - and stream from your iPhone.

I am not sure, if I have understood what kai asked for, but...
....there are a few, who have installed Shairport4w on their BM5.
So it should be possible this way to send audio (Spotify) to the BMS/BM5 via an iPhone.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Or he uses a MLGW and control the spotify function of the BM5 like any other function buit in the bm5. I don't use spotify on mine, the beolink app has maybe a special layout for the spotify function.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
kai:I think an Mlgw, is a bit excessive for that, and I appreciate the other answers it might be an option, I might have a look at a Sonos connect amp and put that onto his beosystem 3, I think it might be easier and less hassle for him
Hi folks, first time here.
I have an existing Beosound 5 and am trying to find a way to be able to stream Spotify directly from my phone as the Spotify app on the BeoSound hasn't been working well after the latest Spotify updates.
Is this possible via Airport Express? Did anyone try it?
The B&O rep just left my house and he's trying to make me upgrade and pay an extra 5k as this is the only solution he can think of.. something tells me that's not right ...
Any help here is greatly appreciated
@garnaout
The simple way to do this, is to use the A.Aux (via the USB/Analog to digital converter and connect an AirPlay device or the Chromecast Audio dongle.
Some users have installed software on the BeoMaster 5 in order to have Spotify/AirPlay directly on the system.
There were some threads about this in the BS5 subforum.

P.S. What kind of 'upgrade' did he suggest?
Thanks !! I 'll look it up!
He suggested that I rip out pretty much everything except the BeoLabs 3 speakers that I have and install the new Essence system (he said I cannot combine this system with my current system Beosound 5 or the current eyes that I have)
Where do you plug the Chromecast dongle though?
Here's a picture of the back of my BeoMaster device and I can't see any place for an Aux in:http://imgur.com/a/cvU98

again apologies in advance if my questions sound too stupid

WOW - I am not very impressed by that kind of suggestion.
Lots of possibilities to combine new NL-link with the old ML - just browse this forum for that.
But first - see what can be done with the BS/BM5 ;-)
So I took your advice and bought a Chromecast audio today from RadioShack. The problem is that the auxiliary end of the video sound is a USB . How did you go around this? Did you use the Behringer UFO ? I just ordered it online based on what I looked up. Also , my USB port in the back is being used so where can I plug it? It seems that there are spare USB ports on the beomaster but the manual said these are for service only.
BeoNut since '75
You will have to use one of rhe USB ports located beneath the ethernet port.
It sure works - a lot of BM/BS5-owners have done it this way.
Also see: User Guide - page 23.
Basicly you can connect any 'analog-out source' this way.
You could use the Essence (just the box and set as fixed line-out).
You would control that either via the Beomusic iOS app or through airplaying or google casting.
This way you should be able get the sound (A.Aux) in every linked room.
Or you could use the output of the Alexa.
Finally you could connect the output of the Alexa to the line-in of the Essence (this has autosense) and have all, that you required for ;-)))
As for your question about your tv in the other thread:
If the tv and the BM/BS5 plus the speakers are located in the same room
(and the speakers are placed ideally on either side of the tv),
my advice would be to have a look at the BeoPlay S8 hub - just like others have adviced.
