Just read on FlatPanelsHD that Philips is releasing a 4K HEVC media player for €249 early 2015. What is interesting is that Philips will give this device for free to the people who bought their 2014-models that does not include support for HEVC.

I find this the way for B&O to act regarding the HEVC issue also. Either make a solution to including HEVC in the Avants or make a small add on box that won't be a hassle for the customer or give them this or any similar box. 249 euro is not much and HEVC is the future of 4K and a real necessity.

What do you guys think?

Loewe at IFA Berlin unveiled as well 4 ranges of TV, all 4K UHD and HEVC! Available next month. Some have a pleasant design.

It's time to get forward Mr B&O!

That's totally unrelated to this thread. Most new 4K TVs do have HEVC. This thread is about the TVs that doesn't..

Benoit is suggesting that B&O incorporate HEVC. In fact this was your suggestion in your own opening post as well as adding an external box. These are both solutions to situation where an existing TV has no HEVC.

Exactly. I just don't wan't to buy a new TV already outdated... I don't like extra boxes which means extra cables and makes a mess with the clean B&O design.

Ehm no. He just posted a link about new TVs from Loewe - which like most new TVs feature HEVC.

Philips, however, offer the HEVC to customers who already bought sets without HEVC. A very nice act.
