"At Bang & Olufsen we develop high-quality products with long lifetimes. Our designs are timeless and many households throughout the world have perfectly-working Bang & Olufsen products that are 20-30 years old.

On average, a Bang & Olufsen product has a lifetime of 10-15 years without any loss of audio or video quality. Products are exhaustively mechanically tested before they are released for production, to ensure high-quality throughout their lifetime. They are tested to ensure they can withstand cold, heat, vibrations, sunlight, dust, etc.

In the unlikely event that a product has a fault during its lifetime, it can of course be repaired. We deliver spare parts in a considerable period after a product has ceased to be manufactured. We also have mechanical spare parts - for example front and back panels, if a unit becoming scratched or damaged."

This part of what we can read on the B&O webpage.

There has been some cases, where spare parts no longer are available for relatively new product - the panel for BV7, the power supply for the Encore.

Will a tv like the new Avant have 'a lifetime' of 10-15 years (including availability of spare parts)?

How long is nowadays 'a considerable period'?

Maybe it is time for B&O for rewriting these passages. Otherweise they - as a company - could loose credibility.

Agree Yes - thumbs up

This text is old. Whistle

Nowadays, lifetime product is made for Bang & Olufsen 10 years and for BeoPlay 5 years. Some parts have only 3-5 years availability.

Spend £1000 on a Sonysamsunlg and it died after 5 year warranty period you'd be bit miffed. Imagine your £18,000 Beovision dying just after B&O's 3-year warranty and either it being so expensive not viable repairing it or parts being obsolete. Dread to think...!

I'm surprised how fast some of them are bring discontinued and I agree that if I had spent £7000 on a bvis 7 then not being able to he the parts would make me a bit unhappy, I realise that they have to change but I think it's to fast and they should maybe listen a bit more to the people that made the brand what it is

Perhaps some of the price savings we are experiencing are because they are not having to plan a 10 year stockpile of sufficient spares for all markets ?

That is for sure - one of the ingredient for a lower price point.

But then again, B&O must ajust these old 'promises' for longevity.
