Hi everybody,
I was at my local dealer today, talking about some parts of my system I might want to sell.
When I told him that I have a Beogram cd5500, he asked me which type of DAC that is in it.
He could inform me that there was used a very high quality DAC in some of the production units, and it was changed to a lower quality one later on.
Does anyone knwo if this is a fact?
I have to open it to find out which one I have, he said. What should I look for?
A quick search told me that the Beogram cd5500 might actually be the best cd-player ever produced by B&O... I am considering to get rid of the Beosystem 5500, since I have a Beosystem 7000 in my "surpice-room", but if the Beosystem 5500´s cd player is in fact better, then that is a no-go..

The CD player in later 6500 and 7000 systems is the same as the 5500. Lower quality? No. Same TDA1541 Sir.

Wasn't there a question of some "mythical" version of the 1541 that may have found it's way into early CD5500 models?

I connected my Beosystem 5500, and I am listening to cd´s from the BG cd5500 now. It beats the hell out of my Beovision dvd player at least :P
Anyone knows what DAC is in the BV7´s?

Apparently it was the TDA1541A S2 or sometimes called "double crown" version.
