This is the second Archived Forum which was active between 1st March 2012 and 23rd February 2022
This is sort of a followup to another thread that's gone quiet but the discussion there moved from Macs to tuning an MX6000 which I thought I'd try asking in the General forum as I've not solved it yet
Essentially, I'm trying to plug a Scart source into my V8000 (from a MacTV).
How do I therefore tune the MX6000 to use the Scart signal plugged into the back of the V8000? I'm guessing there is some other way to force it to offer the Decoder option on the TV tuning menu?
Anyone?
Hi, I dont think you can - from memory it was so that you could have a second decoder to record from on VCR when you were watching the first decoder or satelite on the TV. At the time Decoders were unable to record to built in hard drives, so you could only watch or record what was on the screen. The socket on the back of the V8000 does not act as a third Scart input, for that you need a scart expander
At least that's what I seem to remember,
Hmm. It seems odd that B&O would allow you to do it if it was any VCR apart from a V8000...
Anyway, if that is the case though, is there a preferred Scart expander to use? Obviously you can get simple splitters on eBay very cheaply but I'm guessing that only some of them work correctly with the inter-device signals? Ie I'll need to stick the VCR/DVD scart leads into the same port on the TV (so I gain a spare port for the decoder) but still be able to use the VCR/DVD correctly without the B&O communication signals to the BeoVision being screwed up.
B&O had their own Scart expander if you can find one on eBay. I've got one that I don't currently use but may do in the future.. If you want originality, maybe you can find one. Otherwise, it's probably take your pick but cheaper ones will most likely have fragile pins or poor connections.
