Hi, I'm about to purchase a BC6-23 to act as a link tv to a BV7-32. I currently have an old Sky HD box connected to the BV7 via the component for picture and scart for the sound. The question is what will I get on the BC6? As far as I know the component will not be shared to the BC6 but the scary will. So will it automatically pick up the picture and sound?? With a link TV do I get the same control over connections in the menu or is that all pulled from the main tv?
Any help would be appreciated.
Andrew.
Hi you connect masterlink cable between the 2 ,for control and sound, also you connect aerial from rf out on bv7 to rf in on bc6 this gives you composite video, you then can control your main sources connected on your bv7 in your link room.
the bc6 can control the stb box from the main room and dvd from bv7.
Ok that's great. So will the Component video be shared or the SCART? I was worried it as the BV7 is set to use the Component video that it would only share the sound to the BV6.
All very confusing all this. :-)
The masterlink cable carries the sound, you only get composite video through the aerial lead, any hd source will be converted to composite.
I also have a MacMini connected via the DVI, but from what i'm being told that will not be shared? Is that the case?
Thanks for your help with this.
Hi, the scart signal is converted to a RF signal (aerial) for masterlink picture and sound, if you press AV & then source you will then get the sound over the masterlink cable as stereo!
regards DC

No, it's not.
Several STB's can provide both analoge (SD, composite and/or scart) and digital (DVI or HDMI) simultaniously. Connect both.
Video through the (link)coax can only be done with RGB or Composite (via scart). Any source (DVI, Component) on the AV4 (vertical placed connections on the right side) are not available on the link.
Ok, so no matter how I have the BV7 set up. As in to view the RGB and not the SCART, the SCART video will be available on the Coax to the BC6?

Please tell me how a hd source in main room run through a rf aerial lead, produces the same hd picture in the link room?

Raeuber: Regarding the Bluray player you'll get picture only in SD on Main-TV when watching a bluray on Link-TV at the same time.

So, that's a typical difference if you have in mind that a BV7 has a "stripped" version of the system 3 (with the later mk's)
My BV9 (with system 3) can only display a HD content at it's screen and SD version of that on a link tv when both SD and HD are connected. But by choosing the same source on a link tv, the BV9's panel stays in HD quality.

You never answered my question,
I will tell you, that a local connected source ie stb connected by scart to link tv,will give you a better picture than a stb signal from main room sent through rf.
I have 4 beocenter 6s running off 2 system master tvs and the link picture is not as good as a stb box connected locally to the tvs with scart.

Right so all arrived and installed. And in general all great. Picture is fine for a non HD set and seems to be improved watching a HD station. A couple of questions though....
How come I cannot get the radio to work through the BV7? Is the link only one way? Also one thing i'd not expected, while the picture was always not going to work for the MacMini, why is the sound not working either? It used to work perfectly with the BL3500. I tried today putting the sound through one of the scarts and again no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks, Andrew.
Ah ok, so I need some sort of video from the mac to Scart to be able to select it on the BV6. I'm going to get a DVI to S-Video and connect that to the scart and see what happens.
I'll test the master link now, but I do get sound from the in built Freeview and DVD to the BV6.
Thanks for your help.
Ok this is driving me mad.... Getting an analogue out from the Mac Mini is proving difficult. If I use a VGA connection to the TV will that get shared to the BV6? Oddly if I connect the photo to the scart and set it up as AV2, I get the sound shared for a second and then it cuts out???
I find it amazing there seems to be no way to get this to work easily.
Hi Räuber,
Thank you for your help with this. The Mac is connected to the BV7 via mini DVI to DVI and the audio is from the headphone socket to the phono in on the BV7. The mac also has a mini display port, but seems that will not goto s-video either.
Below is the model I have. It's a late 2009 MacMini.
