Hello,I have a pair of s45-2s,gorgeous and lovely things, mated to a beomaster 3300. In recent weeks 1 speaker sounds like the foam has gone, however I can find no rips or any damage to it. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this ?
Thank you
Gavin.
How do you mean? If one sounds very different, check the woofer is working - the magnet may have slipped. This is fixable!
Peter
Sorry for late reply. 1 speaker sounds awful with bass,as if the foam is damaged. If I put my finger on the cone then its fine,as if the foam is damaged. However I can see no damage, quite strange.
I would guess that the coil is not central and is rubbing. Either needs repairing or replacing.
Hello Peter,I have no idea about the inner workings of a speaker. Would iy not be easier to replace the bass cone ? or can I get this one repaired ? how would I go about finding a replacement cone ? really like these speakers so want to fix them really.
Fixing woofers isn't too difficult. You just have to be patient.
Where do you live?
This thread seems to be active in 2 places at once. To repeat the answer from the other thread, look at this repair of an S45_2 speaker:
