Dear members,

I am all new to this forum and have started restoring an old Beocenter 3500. After a few days of fixing the turntable mechanism I am quite pleased to have that repaired and brought back to work.

The beadings of the 8 inch low-range speakers of both my Beovox 3702 were totally scrapped. After replacing them, they are aligned just fine and sound perfectly. But, the midspeakers, that appear to be quite fine if you look at them from the outside,  are both giving a scrappy noise as if they were not aligned well.

The sound does not disappear when I gently move the diaphragm to the different corners of the midrange speaker and voices just sound awful.

What can I do? Is realigning possible on those? With new foam beedings? Or can I replace those two speakers? Or do you know anyone in Denmark or Germany I could have them shipped to for repair?

Any answer is highly appreciated!

kind regards,

Erich from Germany, currently Odense, Denmark!

Thank you, I already saw his name (and yours, btw) on other 3702-related posts here.

Did you check the crossovers, (caps), when pressing gently on the mid range drivers, is there a scraping sound ?.

Before sending the drivers for repair, I would change the caps in the crossovers, and check all other components. And check the wire connections at the drivers,

Thank you for your fast answer.

I have not seen any crossover so far for I didn't think of it beeing a crossover issue. Actually, the cables look fine near the speakers, I still have to examine them as far as I can and probably at least have a look at the capacitors of the crossover. The problem occurs on (low)medium to higher volumes, preferably on sung voices and sounds best like "grzzz" or whatever... Smile

It occurs on both sides, meaningless of which side or speaker output I connect whichever speaker. I was not able to test it with headphones to opt out on a Beocenter issue, but will do as soon as I managed to obtain an adapter here in Denmark.

Any chance of testing the speakers with another amp

No other amplifier here, however, tomorrow I can check the sound at least by headphones. It is really difficult reparing such a thing in a foreign country.
