I hope Lee responds to this as it makes it look like a Beoworld forum endorsed site.  I don't know if the 'Beoworld' name has any protection?

Dave.

Not yet.  But what upsets me is the text in the bottom left '

'Exclusively Distributed & Marketed by:
BeoWorld'

This association by name should not be allowed surely?

Dave.

From the phone number (+91) one can see the the site/business in India.

Beoworld.com has been available for a while, but was too expensive. I think I remember someone saying that.

One can only complain for the use of the BeoWorld brand if that brand has been registered, and in this case in territories covering India, which I doubt. Otherwise the usage is perfectly legal.

Possibly legal but not ethical.

I'm sure us true Beowrlders could make life very difficult for these people with extensive use of e-mail enquiries!  How many thousands a day could we send?

Dave.

I wonder if B&O know about this - it would appear that it is a store selling new B&O.

This is the name of the official Beostore in New Dehli (India).

Is the name BeoWorld deposed ? If not, I see no problem.

If you have owned it and forgot to pay the renewal, then it became available again.

You can see the current owner by doing a "who is" request.: http://whois.domaintools.com/beoworld.com

More on that.

The domain went for sale (as in the renewal wasn't paid) on the 3rd of April 2014 and was purchased the next day.

Beoworld.com might be a bit of a loss if the renewal was overlooked. However, with all the new domain types becoming available there are now about 90 domain possibilities beginning beoworld.

Lee could bankrupt himself trying to cover all the possibilities. Of course the domain registries keep pushing for new domain endings knowing that major businesses might feel forced to buy-up all the possible versions of their business names.

There is still the possibility of taking action if someone is passing themselves off as a well established business or causing deliberate confusion. I think in some circumstances you can be forced to hand over a registered domain name to an established business even if you bought it legitimately.

Beoworld Private or Beoworld P Ltd did not incorporate until June 2014, so this looks like a case of someone buying a domain and then incorporating a similar name afterwards.

Director Gaganmeet Singh appears also on UK linkedin according to a google search.

Looks like a case of passing off. Maybe B&O legal department (or one of the many Attorneys on Beoworld) can give Lee some guidance.

Graham

I'm sure you spotted their number as +91 i.e. India and this company popped up in a July thread about being a new dealer in Delhi.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
