Hey,

Im about to buy a beomaster and master control panel for $80 that is faulty (master control panel is working fine) and I was wondering if its worth repairing or just better get a fully functional item.

Here is what the seller told me that happened

"This is one I haven't got time to fix up, but the diagnosis I was given was that the IR receiver in the main unit is faulty, it is not turning on. There is a DIN socket on the back where an external IR receiver can be plugged in, but I don't have one. "

Thanks!

I find the given diagnosis very unlikely to be the actual problem. It should still show the standby dot and turn on from the front panel, and if it doesn't, the problem could quite well be anything from a simple blown fuse to lightning damage that has rendered the Beomaster a beautiful door stop. If you are not experienced with electronics yourself, I would pass.
