Here is my latest B&O : a BeoSound Century.
Great design, super sound, a very cool sound system for my bedroom !
Some might say it's a bit old school, a bit analog, with the CD, the cassette deck,...
OK, but i wanted an all-in-one system with a touch of magic and for a good price (i already own a BS5, BS3, BS8, so i live in the digital world too !).
What do you think ?
Who loves the Century ?
Steph:Who loves the Century ?
We all do in this household. It's in use every day without fail. It's tucked under some kitchen units so the bass is better.
Dave.
Nice! I've always liked the Century, always keep my eye out for one at a reasonable price that is working, so far no luck.
Did you know that in the revamped Battlestar Galactica there was a Beosound Century, black, on the wall in the apartment Boomer had on Caprica? Very modern apartment, and the Century looked great. Also not well known enough that it looked futuristic and not easily recognizable, perfect for a scifi show.
Stick a used Playmaker on the aux input and you're up to date!
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Thanks Dave,
The Century is in great shape and the bass are very good, too !
Yes Jeff,
I saw the Century in this TV Show !
I really loved to hang it on the wall, but i have not the courage to rebuild the wall (because i hate when we can see the cables) !
I have one in the kitchen at home, it's a cool looking radio that I can stick CDs or tapes on when I've got guests round. Bought it off of Lifestyle AV a few years and it's worked (and looked) great ever since
I always thought it odd though that the tape rewind isn't as good as on my early 1980s BeoCord - it waits until the physical end of each side rather than the end of the track/metal part a cm or or two earlier. Means you get a second or two of silence between side 1 and 2. But that really is nitpicking.
Thanks Calvin.
Here is another pic.
Love how it looks in a minimalist room.
I love the clothes tree! Where did you find that? Is there a brand I could look up? I've been looking for something like that for a while now but not finding anything cool looking...
Jeff,
It's a present for my birthday !
This clothes tree is 20 years old !
I really don't know if you can find this model today !
We love ours !
my first B&O purchase , in 1997 . The name was connected with the original price ; £1000 . It cost me a bit more because it was also our first Beo4 . On a wall bracket too.

Happy birthday! As for the clothes tree, ah well, the search continues! Thanks...
Love our Century in our kitchen. For me, the Century is the essence of B&O along with the Beosound 2300 family with the sliding glass doors. I remember how fascinated I was with it when I first saw it in the 90's and promised myself I would get one when I grew older. People who come over are still fascinated by the "magic" of the moving glass doors.
Pic from the day of the purchase below - it's now hanging on one of the walls in our kitchen..
My B&O products: Beosound 9000, Beosound 2300, Beosound Century, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 4000 x2, Beolab 3500, Beolab 2000, Beolab 10, Beolink Active x2, Beotime, Beo5 x2, Beo4, A9 keyring x2, LC2 dimmer x6 and growing....
BeoNut since '75
Neither one has the carrying handle/antenna. Strange.
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
I have the carrying handle/antenna, but i find that the FM radio signal is not very strong in my area.
So, i bought another flexible antenna and connected it instead of the original.
Now, the signal of the radio stations is very strong and the sound clearer.
And, i found that the antenna can be removed from the handle (4 screws). So maybe i just can keep the handle. It's more pratical to move the century with it.
