What to do ?? I want to change mine BeoVision 9 and believing cinema
Well, if it were me I'd go with the BV12. I have the Panasonic VT65 which is supposedly the same panel the BV12 uses and the detail, contrast, black levels, and color are better than any LCD I've ever seen, including the BV11. Plus it's ten inches bigger.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Plasma is better.
4k is a stupid thing.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Please look closely at the picture of the BV12 - some of them have a rather grey panel which prevents them from showing true black, and compare a tv channels logo on both sets to see witch level of detail you are happy with. I would lean against the BV12 simply because I prefer more and better separation within the grey scale than the Avant 55 can provide (due to the backlighting), but the speaker system and floor stand of the Avant is a winner.
If you want the better picture and find the Avant 85" too big - wait till January and the launch of the Avant 75".

BeoNut since '75
Yep, followed by 60" in June 2015, 57.5" in September 2015 and then discounts on all models until Easter 2016 when the OLED versions of 55", 57.5", 60", 75" and 85" come out with USB 3.0 and HDMI v2.0...it never ends...

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
I think there is an easy to this question... there is absolutely no wrong choice! You are choosing between the very top models in the range that B&O has to offer and either set is going to satisfy you immensely. I would imagine your choice will be based on which design you prefer aesthetically, rather than technicalities. I really couldn't say one picture betters another between these TVs, and believe you me... I absolutely would if I could! A great choice to have.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Most of us agreed with B&O back when the BV5 was launched: 42" is more than enough for European living rooms.
This number is now 55". And when working on the Avant design, B&O looked into were the market is going within 12+ months and the conclusion was 70" to 80" specifically for the US and Asia/Russia markets. To, for a change perhaps, be in sync with the demands regarding screen sizes B&O have the "EU" variant of the Avant with 55" and the two other sizes for the some of the other markets. And seeing how European preferences for sizes have trailed the US market, I am quite sure that the 55" will be seen as too small by some European customers in the not too distant future.

But bigger isn't always better. This seems self perpetuating to me - a bit like the loudness war recently discussed. If smaller TV's are no longer available from the manufacturers, the choice is diminished and people are forced into buying bigger and bigger sets.
I have a BV7-55 in my living room which is 42 square metres and the TV is already quite dominant. I couldn't imagine a larger TV in there and neither can the rest of the family.
I live in France where more open plan and larger living rooms exist than I remember there being in the UK. Most houses/appartments in the UK have relatively small living rooms so I can't see how larger TV's will be sensible.
Dave.

BeoGreg:But Avant 55" looks way smaller than BV7-55. It will look average in your room.
It will look average in your room.
OK, mine is on a motorised floor stand so does look bigger. overall Yes, the Avant 55 looks smaller than the 7_55 but it's still a 55" screen of watcheable picture.
I accept that the overall screen size when switched off is smaller on the Avant 55" (0.93 sq m versus 1.25 sq m) but when actually watching the TV, the picture is still more than large enough for my room. This wouldn't change for the Avant.
No way will any B&O product look 'average in my room!
I can asure you that the danes aren't holding back.
They want BIG tv's.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
BeoGreg:@ Dave I was talking about "average" dimensions (in a 40 metres square room) not looks.
English humour, irony, sarcasm etc sometimes is misunderstood! Also used inappropriately.
I wasn't offended, I was just trying to make the point that in no way is any product from B&O 'average' but you already knew that. I wouldn't have nearly 350 pieces of B&O in my home if I thought otherwise. This is possibly why my reasonably sized house actually feels smaller than it is as it's so full of stuff.
I can see your point. The Avant on a static table stand does look nothing out of the ordinary - it's just a flat panel TV. Until the speakers appear.
Now it looks a bit bigger and with the speakers extended is closer to the overall size of the BV7_55. By the time you put the Avant on a motorised stand, it seems bigger again but still a lot lower than the 7_55 on a motorised stand (with a BL7.4 underneath like mine).
I was talking to my family about this last night. My step-daughter said that in no way could her father in the UK have a 7_55 (or an Avant) in his house as there was nowhere it would fit. That applies to a lot of houses in the UK at least which was why I questioned the logic of progressively larger TV's. It has to stop some time but choice is being removed by the likes of Samsung, LG etc who increasingly produce larger screen sizes and phase out smaller ones - removing customer choice and forcing larger screens into houses where they won't fit. Ultimately becoming too prominent in peoples homes.
I don't know what the ideal viewing distance is for the diffreent screen sizes (it has been discueed here before) but this trend will force people into watching these large screens at too close a distance and spoil the viewing experience or at worst cause damage to their eyes.
