I have an HDR2 connected to an Avant.  I used to be able use the Instant Record facility (ie press RECORD, RECORD) whilst watching TV.  However, this no longer happens.  Also, when I use the HDR2 menu, the Record option is greyed out.

The strange, and annoying, thing is that I can Record by setting the RECORD TIMER.  Also, the disk is by no means full as there are only a few items and less than 10 hours previously recorded.

Does anyone have any ideas in how I can overcome this problem please?

Carl

Hi  Carl,

Can you tell us more about the avant. Which type is it? Does it have an internal VCR?

Is the HDR2 recognized by the avant and can be seen in the connections menu?

If it's setup as a Vtape2, then you have to use the RECORD2 option on the Beo4.

It is an Avant DVD and it does recognise the HDR2 properly.  However, following a major power outage in the area, everything has been reset and I can now manually record correctly.   I am unsure what the problem was but it is sorted now so I am happy.
