Was just in the middle of watching casualty on iplayer on my ps3 through my 32" curved screen avant when i heard a crackling/sparking sort of noise, i wasnt sure where it was coming from and continued to watch for about 2 minutes then i started smelling this awful burning smell so immediately switched off the power.

Does anyone know what the problem is, why it happened.

My room now really stinks and my windows are open but the smell aint going.

Thanks in advance

Ronnie,

Sorry to hear about your AVANT problem.

Whilst no one will really know what the problem is until the back is taken off the TV and the source of the burning noted, given the smell is very bad apparently, then I am guessing a transformer such as the Line Output Transformer or a high wattage load resistor.

Either way unless you have some TV/electronics knowledge you will need to get a engineer to have a look at it.

Regards Keith....

When you take the back off the AVANT I would start around the area mark 4 on the diagram below
